I know most of you want potter out but I would still like to think he deserves a summer transfer window, all our money was spent last summer so his hands were tied in January so couldn't really do very much, there's not a manager out there that could've got a tune out of this squad of players, if things are still the same after 10 or 12 games next season then fine we should look elsewhere but I'm getting behind my team and supporting them in these last few games I'm fed up reading "potter out potter out"!

Loppy and moyes got a better tune out of them? Fact

Why does he “deserve” it? His record with us is appalling, and with respect you’re talking as if this squad of players is a schoolboy XI. It’s full of international players from whom even Lopetegui got better results! And before he joined us he was sacked by Chelsea for being awful after several seasons with Brighton where he was bang average at best.

Stevie I wouldn’t want to give him any games next season. Many of the people who want Potter to stay also were ranting about the previous manager after just 0half a dozen games. Whilst I will say he wasn’t good, he seemed a difficult character to deal with and understand and looked like he was having a breakdown. Whilst we did have a few games where we shipped a lot of goals we but did play a lot more on the front foot, scored more and won more games fact.
Nobody thought the last fella was the right manager, but many of us didn’t feel Potter was the solution and as the clamour for potter was so vocal, I for one and probably most others just kept stoom and hoped for the best. But sadly Potter has proved us right he is a failure. why should we give this guy half of one season and then waste another 10 games of the next season just to start looking for a new manager mid season. Then we can give the next manager the pathetic excuse of not having his own players.
Potter was brought to improve our team, improve our results and consequently our position in the league. He has been a dismal failure on all 3 counts.

Stevie I think of myself as a fair man, I was clear about Loppy after 5 games, and I was not in favour of Potter I do not care in reality, who the manager is, as long as he is moderately successful, Football is a results business, and this manager is a failure, to be frank I was astonished, at the amount of support he initially had I was thinking it must be mass hypnotism, it looks like he’s going to get this transfer window, I hope for the best, I don’t mind being proved wrong, but I will retain my scepticism

Not been impressed with Potter at all really, that being said pretty much all the games have been close. We've been unlucky in quite a few of those games and that could be the difference between about 3-4 places with how tight the league is.

I don't think it's accurate comparing him to moyes and lopetegui, he came in while we were sitting in 14th pretty much safe from relegation and probably unlikely to get europe and with what seems like a few of those players already having an eye on a summer move We've slept walk down the table.

Between JWP, Alvarez, Rodriguez, Soucek. We probably have the slowest midfield options in the league by some distance which both Moyes and Lopetegui didn't address infact made us worse.

If he addresses this in summer it will make a big difference, we'll press higher and won't have to drop a forward for an extra man in midfield to cover the lack of pace.

Maybe I'm just looking for the positives as I don't think sullivan will get rid and if he does I have no faith in him that he will bring anyone better in. This coming transfer window is massive and the relationship between Potter and macuauley will be crucial, If that gets broken up now we'll end up with sullivan and some out of work manager doing the rebuild. I think I'd rather we let Potter and macauley bring in younger hungrier players then if things still don't go right on the pitch we can get rid then and at least someone will inherit hopefully a more balance sqaud.

Al,
Although there’s a lot in what you say, you’re missing a major point. No matter who comes in during the summer, there are limitations to what a team can do without a coach who knows what he’s doing. Hand on heart do you honestly believe Potter has the capability required? I don’t.

Apologies, I know this question not directed to me, but if We had Donnarumma in goal Marmoush and Haaland up front, Rodri and Van Dyke in the middle, would make no difference to Potter, he’d play the same way, same result, I’ve never seen what others see in him, nice guy, very presentable, that’s it, and I’m not expecting any different next season, but I will retract my words on here if we do well, can’t be fairer than that

Regarding retracting our words, I think most or all of us would agree with that Joyful. But we could end up going through a lot more angst if he is given the transfer window. It may seem that there is nothing to play for in the last 3 games but I think if we lose all 3 he will be out if we win all 3 he will remain. I think we should expect 4 or 5 points from these 3 games I’m not sure we will get them.

I can see us not getting any points at all, I’m genuinely suprised that Sullivan, is trusting any transfer window to Potter it’s all very well getting in a dozen players for cheap money, some maybe good value, but Premier is toughest league in Europe no question, it’s a big ask, to get players from lesser leagues to step up, and get them all to gel as well, In a way I hope I’m wrong, but whilst others may be enthusiastic, I’m not

@tin, there are definitely more suitable managers, is sullivan capable of getting them? Would they want to work under sullivan?

Will the manager come in and demand certain players where we have to over pay think kilman, jwp.

My point is really I have no faith in sullivan to find any better. Even though its probably not that hard based on how he's done so far.

I think what could be a positive and help us turn things around under Potter, is that he obviously works well with macualey and is happy to take younger players and try and develop then. Rather than blow huges amounts on older players just because they've played in the prem or worked with them before.

Do I think he's the man to take us into europe probably not, could he be the stepping stone to a manager that can, he could be.

But ultimately what's led us to this point where it feels make or break is the lack of direction and planning for the future, which all comes down to sullivan our frustrations should be directed to him.

And as for the thinking that Potter won't change the style of play and will play exactly the same no matter who he has I don't think its true, he was never known for playing a 532, I think he's done that largely down to how poor our midfield is. Do you not think if he had a bissouma or a caicedo insted of jwp we'd not be stepping up higher and pressing more aggressively?

I think everyone needs to stop talking about Moyes. He’s the past. Since then we’ve had Loppy and Potter. We need to get behind Potter. We’re not conceding as many goals and our ball retention is better. Pundits on this site used to moan we didn’t have possession, now we have possession they’re still moaning. Potter will be with us for another 2 years. Get used to it and support the man and the team.
