Let's make it easy for Mr Sullivan, who cannot afford to bring players in, with our list of injuries, and poor squad, we cannot score goals, and can't keep them out, so unless we strike lucky , we will at the end of Feb, be in the bottom three, : Mr Sullivan. Values the club at circa £650 m, if we are relegated, that value will drop to £450 m., and unless we bounce back first season, will drop to £400 m, or possibly less, when you have had time to digest those figures, forget about PSR and the rest, spend the money get the club safe, players, staff, etc can be sold, loaned etc. and the situation sorted at seasons end

All due respect Joyful I think Sullivan is many things but when it comes to money an idiot he is not. You don’t become that rich in business by not understanding finances. This mess that we are in has been caused by taking on the wrong manager (Sullivans fault) and spending substantial transfer money unwisely (Steidtens fault) . I’m sure he’s fully aware of the implications of relegation but the books have to balance. January is a terrible month to take in new players as they’re either over inflated in price or fringe squad players that can’t make the starting 11 of their own team. Replacing Loopy with Potter is an incredibly positive move and we just have to hope that over the next 17 days the right deals can be struck for the right players (personally I can only see 2 max coming in) and that Potter promotes the right players from the youth squad. Positives are we only took in Phillips last January and still stayed up ?

I admire your positive outlook, but until I see people coming through the door, I will retain my scepticism, one or two players, in our position may not be enough sorry, we have a very tough fixture list coming along, and in my view we are not acting quickly enough, and Sullivan is NOT taking possibility of relegation seriously, at this time

Joyful, you are a regular poster on here and more often than not, I think there is sense in your posts. However, every now and then you make comments in your posts that simply baffle me.

As it stands, I don't think West Ham are in danger of being relegated, with Potter in charge I think we'll tighten up our back line and concede less and frankly there are other teams that seem to have a lot more work to do to stay safe. Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton for example.

This isn't to say I don't think we could do with investment in January, but I don't think its a case of "make signings in January or we get relegated" which is what you're implying.

Die 4, I always admire optimism, but for me the reasons we lost the game at Villa, wasn’t just the corner that never was, Villa were able to make changes of quality, when it was needed, We well c'mon , who have we to bring on, that my friend is the difference, that’s why we are scraping along, we have players in the squad like Ings, Cornet, who should have been paid off and gone, they couldn’t get a game at Dagenham, so sorry my friend, if your baffled, our squad is nowhere near acceptable, and that’s now becoming the focal point, I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist but a REALIST, In a few months time, should we retain our status, there are many end of contracts, Coufal, Fabianski, Cresswell, Antonio, how shall we replace these? and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, we are criminally slow on transfers, can Potter sort it out, yes he can, but not without players he cant

Joyful, we have youth players like Potts and Earthy out on loan at the moment, if only we had a Manager that likes to promote from the youth team …… oh wait a minute

Yes, WH have looked into all the loans, looks like these two can be recalled but, it’s about, agreeing with the clubs involved, and there’s no trigger to pull, , and if you do recall and don’t play them, it’s not a good feeling for the youngsters, providing things go well! these two will probably make the squad next season, for now, status quo

If we put in a low ball offer for Duran it’s so the board can say ‘we tried’. We evidently asked Man Utd to keep us informed regarding Antony and Everton for Calvert Lewin. This smacks of us having zero money, both would be dreadful buys. Steidten needs to go. His buys have been ok at best and have now left us skint. AWB and Summerville have proven to be good summer buys, Kilman ok, the rest poor. Our season over already.

We shouldn't be in position where we are having to rely on unproven academy players. Especially where we are in the league, no matter how good potter may be the big holes in our sqaud will cost us points and could see us get caught up in a relegation fight the league is still incredibly tight and we shouldn't have the mindset there are 3 worse teams than us as that can easily back fire.

That being said if we can get a solid midfielder and a decent striker I don't see why we can't start looking up the table. If that means taking a little risk with PSR then I think we should as other teams have like villa, Newcastle and been better for it yes they might have had to sell a player or 2 to balance the books who they might not have wanted to sell but they've ended up in champions league in the process.

We havnt got zero money, it’s nonsense, Sullivan talk, 30 /35 m is available, and we can easily add to that if necessary, but that’s enough to make the deals, happen if used carefully, without selling anybody, at this time, let’s be fair, squad so thin who we going to sell? Without doing damage

Iron.Al, my comment about the returning youth was primarily in response to Joyful asking how we are supposed to replace Coufal, Cresswell, Fabianski and Antonio once their contracts end. That being said bringing them back now to pad out the paper thin squad would be a good thing now that we have a Manager that knows how to integrate them into a squad system. The last 2 managers have been averse to using these lads and subsequently they leave us to ply their trade elsewhere. Hopefully this one won’t. If we have £30-35m to spend in January and get a couple of loanees on top I don’t see what the panic is? Do you genuinely think we’ll have a worse 2nd half of the season to the 1st?

I think there will be NO movement until clubs here about PSR tomorrow.

I’m not in the predictions business, but I stated what you can see clearly, we struggle to score goals, we let too many in, and too often the midfield vanishes, Potter has been given the job to sort it out, is he capable, yes, but some of our fans think he can clear the problems in short order, he can’t, we have too many injuries, with no substitutes for those players, no squad depth To call upon, it’s very difficult, we started the season with 3 CHs and an aged striker in Antonio, another striker with a horrendous injury record, This is down to Sullivan , it was. Madness, and now his negligence has come home to roost, I spoke to a fan today, who thinks Potters appointment, guarantees top six, good luck with that I said, sometimes I think I’m watching a different game to these fans, anyway 2 games coming up, we must get some points

@dabber, I don't think we will be worse second half the season no, but we've had some incredibly lucky results in the first half the season with some terrible performances, we are also level on goal differnce with Ipswich. Now if those teams just below us start picking up some points it could start to get nervy.

But as I say a couple of good signings should ensure we don't and we could start looking up the table, we are as close to 8th as we are relegation places, problem is I don't trust sullivan to get it right.

We’ll be alright Joyful, won’t be top 6 but won’t be relegation either ?
