What transfers do we need Jlo in charge or not we need

Pacy Striker
Gk
Pacy Centre Mid

Can we recall JWP he didn't pull up trees but he was mobile and busy in midfield, and had a bit of leadership about him. Also would anyone consider bringing back Aguerd if we can these two would strengthen our squad at the very least and save some money until the summer.

What do people think we need?

We certainly don’t need JWP. Trees? He didn’t even pull up weeds! He contributed absolutely nothing to the team, as has been the case during his loan spell at Forest.

I’d have both back. They’re both better than what we currently have.

And that from someone who wants Moyes back! Say no more.

Maybe we could re-sign Zouma and return to the heady days of the second half of last season. ?

I agree with Brooking. Bring JWP back cause he is better than some of those we still have. Our midfield is too slow, too laboured. We need young, pacey midfielders with good engines.

So it looks like Potter ready to take over however, as with all west ham dealings, there is a major problem. He wants to bring in his own recruitment/scouting team so, where does that leave TS

Am sure WAYNE ROONEY would be a nice cheap option to replace LOP ? ? ?

Why isn't Andy Irving starting he looked the best midfielder on the park when he came on

If Potter wants his own recruitment team I think that would make it very difficult because I think TS is on a 5 year contract. Well I’m not sure about that, but he did keep talking about his 5 year plan. I can’t see sulivan paying off a 5 year contract he doesn’t like paying off a 2 year contract

I agree merc. Since the very first training matches that has been the case. I don’t think he is outstanding but apart from Soler in parts, he would out perform the others. Just a good honest hard working player

If JWP is the best we can do, then we really do have problems! ?

With JWP we’d have chances made for the forwards, whether its dead balls or balls over the top. Whatever it is, it’s more than what’s currently happening. Furthermore, Aguerd is better than Mavro and Todibo.

Gotta agree with Brooking again. AGUERD is being raved about in Spain so bring him back and get a manager who can bring out the best in him

I think if we were to list 7 players we desperately need rid of in Jan, 3 would be midfielders so to bring JWP back makes a lot of sense! Compared to Paqueta (dreadful not interested in playing for west ham anymore), then we have Alvarez who is too slow and a red card bomb waiting to explode and let's not forget Rodriguez who is awful.

Coufal would go, as would Mavropanos and then INGS and Cornet

Aguerd was allegedly good before he came to West Ham but it didn’t work no matter how well he is doing in Spain I don’t think it would work. I think todibo is a really decent player but has issues with floppy which isn’t helping. Macro is accident prone for sure. Rodriguez did well in Spain and Barcelona wanted to buy him, ….apparently? But he isn’t any good in the prem. JWP seemed to be just a player that was there to take corners and the odd free kick. He might be better this time around because we do sometimes get near the opposition box so he could take a free kick under Moyes we were too busy having all the players in our own penalty area! I totally agree Paqueta has been a disgrace and probably due to issues of his own making.

Who in there right mind would take cornet? I think he is on a long contract.

Always rated Aguerd he just didn't suit Moyes style of play.

As for Jwp he's as slow as rodriguez, but statistically makes less tackles and interceptions.

When you take away set pieces and only focus on how much he creates from open play He is in bottom 30 percent.

There is a reason clubs didn't want to sign him and he can't get a game for forrest.

JWP would be ideal for ball progression. He could play in the middle of a 3 getting the ball forward, plus he scores. Currently, Pacquetta, Rodriquez, Alvarez offer nothing. Therefore, Soler, JWP, Soucek can’t be do any worse, and Soucek and JWP can score.

His stats for ball progression are actually really bad. Take a look on a website called fbref. Funnily enough he's being out performed by both paqueta and alvarez in both progressive passes and progressive carries. He does pop up with some goals as you say similarly to soucek but we've already seen how bad it is with those two together in midfield last season, we'd get played through like they weren't even there, which will be even more exposed the way lopetegui sets up imo. I think you can get away with one but not both.

We need to invest in a younger pacy midfielder rest are all far too slow except for soler. Paqueta not exactly slow but he's been nowhere near his best since the investigation.

Think you are on the money Brooking. Ward-Prowse by all accounts is a solid pro, Aguerd always struck me as a strange one to let leave on loan. He does have pace and can play football. Think the pace of the league caught him off guard early doors.

It’s a sad state of affairs that we’re even discussing bringing back Aguerd and JWP. 6 months ago nobody on here was bothered they were being shipped out now some want them back ……this is the clearest indication we’ve actually gone backwards and as much as I want to see the back of Loopy he wasn’t totally responsible for replacing crap with crap. Bowen getting injured should speed up the process of Loopys demise however unless Steidten does a better job in next 31 days we are going to be in deep deep doo doo regardless!

@caligula, Aguerd is very quick for a cb. I don't think the pace of the prem was the problem. More so that under Moyes we were defending backs to the wall most of the time which completely takes away his stronger attributes as a quick ball playing cb.

Agree jwp is a solid pro, but adding one of the slowest midfielders in the league to the slowest midfield doesn't solve our problem. Unless our plan is to only score from set pieces and concede a record amount of goals like last season.

23.) 02 Jan 2025
02 Jan 2025 00:12:21
In May 2024, Ward-Prowse had taken 15 of West Ham's 16 free-kick shots, yet he did not convert any of them, having scored three league goals from 17 free-kick attempts the previous season. Not a great record for a set piece specialist. Otherwise, he was likened to a training cone in midfield. This season he can’t get playing time on loan at Forest. And this is the guy you want back for our midfield?

24.) 02 Jan 2025
02 Jan 2025 09:03:59
Would I have Ward-Prowse over Guido Rodriguez? Yes, it’s not even close. Someone like that would set the tone in training. From what I hear, that’s what we need.

Yep, with JWP in training, the whole team could be lamp posts.
