I've been involved in a fair standard of football for many years, and every non-league club I've worked with has played players in their position. I don't understand why we don't play square pegs in square holes. If I were Potter I would play the below:
4-5-1
GK Areola
RB AWB
LB Diouf
CB Todibo
CB Aguerd
RM Bowen
LM Summerville
CM Pacqueta
CM Alvarez
CM Soucek
F Fulkrug
or
Play Marshall up front, drop Soucek and play 442

I agree however, think alverez and paqueta may go. And the worst thing is there is no pace in that midfield. Maybe Potts in there and potentially another young lad. But know WP will go in there and souchek n WP will be pushed wide lol

Thought he’d tried that already? On paper it looks good, but we don’t play on paper! There’s something missing, an ingredient, Potter can’t find it, if Areola has another game like Man U, doesn’t matter who plays or what the formation is, you cannot have a Gk who doesn’t listen to instructions, and we have no one else

Brooking fair play after watching last your line up would fair ok. Still think we need a better keeper (or 2) than that one and that midfield needs youthful athleticism and pace. Perhaps Potts for Souchek

When fit, I’d start with:
Areola (or new GK)
AWB
Diouf
Mavropanos or Todibo
Aguerd
Potts
Alvarez
Paqueta
Bowen
Füllkrug
Summerville or Marshall

Have to say the starting line up was much more promising than the Saturday line and again didn’t see the game but sounds more positive ?
