Rumblings that Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to be the next England manager! If true, the FA has outdone itself. Not just shot itself in the foot, but machine-gunned both feet. Tuchel causes problems wherever he goes. When will the FA learn?
{Ed002's Note - Tuchel is an outstanding coach and will be a great option for England who cannot get their preferred option. He has a huge amount of domestic experience and has had a great deal of success havinging won the Bundesliga, the domestic quadruple in France, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.}

In France he was the coach of the only real team of note (PSG) . In Germany he was the coach of the regular Bundesliga champions. So no surprises there. His tenure at Chelsea was marked by controversy. He’s recognised as being unpopular in th we football world. I’m afraid we’ll have to agree to disagree on him.
{Ed002's Note - There are plenty of good teams in France and Germany, and he was hugely successful at Chelsea. I suspect that yet again your knowledge of the game is tainted rather.}

Nope, just a different opinion to yours.

Since 2013, PSG have been French champions every year, apart from 2017 and 2021. Since 2013, Bayern München have been German champions every year, apart from 2024. Yep, loads of competition!
It’s not about knowledge. It’s just a difference of opinion.
Anyway, Tuchel has now been named as the new England manager. We’ll see.

I am not a great fan of International football full stop, watching England induces sleep, for me, we have some excellent players, who generally underperform in England kit, why this is ?, whomever comes in needs a big sort out, if we are ever going to win anything ever again.

Clear to see that St George’s Park has so far failed to develop elite English managers. The English FA have no strategy on procuring the next English manager.
It’s the same approach, no forward thinking. yes Tuchel is a good manager no doubt, but we have been sold a pony over the years by the FA. No development at all with elite managers.

I have no opinion of my own as to if he will do a good or bad job as I don’t know enough about him. But it is often the case that successful club managers become successful international managers.

No doubt Tuchel is an upgrade on the clueless Southgate, but I think we currently have a talented pool of players who deserve the best coach. I would have liked to see Eddie Howe appointed, with someone like Michael Carrick as his part-time assistant, being groomed possibly for the future top job. In Germany, they are bemused at Tuchel’s appointment. He’s not as highly regarded in his home country.

Sorry I meant successful club managers often don't become great international managers

I’d have asked Arsene Wenger. He’s in with UEFA, world class coach and his ego may interested him. 18 month contract.
