SKY SPORTS report Benfica reject West Ham United bid for Darwin Nunez. West Ham considering improved offer - but given time constraints, looking increasingly difficult to do. Am told - as it stands - unlikely to go for Divock Origi or Rhys Healey. Ekitike Newcastle bound. PHANTOM BIDS everybody which we are masters of. Why would PHILLIPS want to come to us when he has 2 and half years left on his contract. They bid safe in the knowldge there was no chancde the same as NUNEZ and RAPHINA. They did the same at BIRMINGHGAM

Nonsense mainlander. And remember two things. The club has spent money ( remember Pelegrini who wasted £100m on duds like Yarmalenko, Haller and Anderson)? The owners only recouped £25m of that.
And who dug us out of a financial hole when the Icelandic Owners got us into all sorts of debt and trouble?

Remember the good the owners did instead of just jumping on the bandwagon with DGS bashers.

I feel your frustration but we need to put ourselves into the owners shoes first and imagine it was our own money. Even as a West Ham fan I can tell you, I would have pulled the plug on West Ham if I were them after all of the nonsense they have endured by fans who have no idea about what it takes to run and finance a club in these turbulent times.
Remember, they bought the club ad a business not a hobby.

Hi COYI64 HALLER wasn't a dud he wasn't played in the right system as in Germany he was played with 2 up front and even in a three and scored quite a few times against BAYERN MUNICH,they shouldn't have signed him if you ain't going to play him in the right system it was a complete lack of tactical nous and understanding of a players strengths and weaknesses and bordering on a lack of professionalism on the management and board who then shell out 10 mill for HUGILL.

Sorry COYI64 G&S has wasted untold millions on useless strikers, Haller was and is a good striker but not utilised properly with us. Any fool can see that we desperately needed a striker and another CB in this window and they bought no one. If they had we stood a chance of Europe again which has earned WHU untold millions. You have to speculate to accumulate in the football world to stay still or progress as all the other teams are improving.

Whorya. I agree. Haller is a great player if deployed in the correct system which pellegrini never did. Pellegrini was 100% culpable for the lack of research on this player or playing to his strengths. However, in terms of Haller being a success at WHU he just wasn’t ( hence my term dud)
One cannot blame the board. They were asked (in fact implored by fans) to stay out of the transfers which they did when pellegrini came in.
After that pellegrini rubbish storm and his flagrant disregard for the share holders money, I too (if I was DGS) would be more cautious this time around.

I agree that Haller was indeed far from a dud, I just wish they had tried a system that suits his style of play . He knows where the net is given the right ammo.
I also agree that if we do not get any signings then it will be disappointing but that’s all, let’s not forget that money has been spent and in some cases very poorly but in some cases very wisely, West Ham we’re in a heap of trouble before gold and Sullivan baled them out, we could be playing lower league football right now but are sitting in 5th! It’s a great time to be a West Ham fan right now and long May it continue and if moyes is being careful then he is doing ok in my books.

Now I know I am just a fan and don't really know much about the football business of player purchasing. But in my business one of the things I do know and get paid well to do is negotiate deals and contracts. Yes very different business but nonetheless if I wanted to sign someone like say Nunez I would have identified him 6 months ago at a minimum (Did they?). I would have been talking to his agent to understand them personally, that is player and agent. What would the agent want to put the right word in his players ear? I am not talking bribery or anything untoward, but what is it the player really wants. Sometimes at that point you realise you are up against it. If for example he says that he only wants to play in certain countries and England ain't one. You can decide to move on or else dig more to see if you can change his mind. Then you need to start talking to the club if you can, give them time to get comfortable. I guess what I am saying is for a very good player I would see it as a process, not something you put together in a few days and hope club and player and agent agree. Frustrating from the outside not knowing what process they followed, but seems very much like they just do a last minute scatter gun approach to an incredibly important aspect of their business.
