So I’ve been reading that Moyse’s new “dilemma” is the match day 18 v City.

Haller has recovered from a knock and with Benrahma must been included.

If all fit, Moyse is likely to start the same XI.

So who misses out?

It seems odd that you need to officially submit your squad (up to 25) for the season, but only name 18 for match day.

Is there any reason why it’s limited to 18?

Why can’t subs be chosen from your full squad?

Eds? Is it just tradition?

{Ed002's Note - Until the mid 60s there were no subs allowed. Then you could name one and then it went to two, three and then five. Recently, to finish last season, it was expanded but the Premier League clubs voted against it for this season when it was offered up - the argument being that it would favour those sides with stronger squads (typically the higher-profile sides). However, what I do expect to happen moving forward is (a) a push to lower the maximum number on non Home Grown players from 17 to perhaps 12 or 13, (b) an increase in the number of "Club Developed" (having been with the club for a year before turning 19) players which currently only impacts UEFA competition, and (eventually) (c) changing to matchday squad such that a minimum number of Home Grown players must start the game (say four), and a minimum number of Club Developed players (say four again) need to be in the match day squad. There are already rules surrounding this in other countries.}

Markro, yes very difficult section for DM after recent gutsy performances? For me Haller doesn’t warrant any selection anywhere, maybe controversial to say so to some punters, but his contributions have been nil for me!

Whether he will start Benhrama against City or not is difficult, but I think it will be Fornals who starts but will be the one to be replaced either way which will be unfortunate, unless he is having a atinker! Some may possibly say Snoddy should make way on the bench, but he always grafts and makes some contribution, certainly Yarmo must be in there to call on? âš’âš’âš’âš’.

Markro, sorry mate😂🤣Can’t get my head around when it when I feel he cannot adapt up front and at least look as if he is putting some effort and enthusiasm into a game, I cannot accept a whole team system should be changed to suit one player! Enough of Haller🤣Really looking To the 12.30 KO, again really interesting now the whole team is really pulling together and grafting for each other! Just hope no niggling injury problems especially arguably against one of the Worlds best teams! ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒.

i too don't think Haller is good enough to disrupt a team that is pulling together. He has a lot of talent and is a decent footballer but he doesn't do enough work, i can't see him making the subs bench let alone starting a game.

Haller I think is a good player, but a good player that doesn't at all fit into moyes system, a system that has been doing well in last 3 games can't see at all how he fits in except as sub in last 15 mins.
