Lots of pre season speculation as usual on who we need in this position or that position and disgruntled comments on lack of funds, also Diangana sale against DM's and other players wishes! My view although laid back is, it is what it is, we are WH for goodness sake, there always has to be those that are in the bottom 6 coming towards end of season, as long as we're not in the bottom 3 come the finish, I am not too unhappy!
Yes we huffed and puffed against Burnley and Villa, but did the job against Watford in fine style when they were really up against it for survival!
I think we may simply have to make do with who we have when the window closes, in my view it's the grit, fight and application that brings rewards, those that aren't prepared to show that shouldn't be playing? We have enough forward players that could and should be capable of scoring goals! I will remain optimistic about the new season until the results go against! By November we will be getting a reasonable idea of the direction we're heading towards? Bit of a boring post chaps, but I see no point in being downhearted before we start, just remember the posts some put on here when we were supposedly signing Marquee players that MP wanted, look at some of them now, so it works both ways! âš’âš’âš’âš’.

Well put Chelmsford a lot hinged on the fabs injury then trying to rush him breaking down and finding out the no 2 wasn’t good enough. a dodgy goalie will make defenses shaky and lack confidence.

Couldn’t agree more, Chelms.

I think I’m going to ignore who we might or might not buy, until something actually happens (or not. )

A very well reasoned post Chelmsford 👏.

Upon reflection, I agree Chelmsford

I was initially angered and quite sad that Grady had been sold, but I've just adopted the mentality that the owners won't change. They're experienced, thick skinned and hardened business men. A few tweets and protecting fans will not bother them in the slightest.

We just need to get behind the team and see how we start the season. As long as the hardworking mentality is there, you can't fault them. We absolutely have to get behind Moyes because he has absolutely earned it.

Nicely said Chelms. Although i am not 100% sure Diangana was sold completely against Moyes' wishes. While I do not think he would have ACTIVELY sold him this summer in a normal climate (non the virus), i do not think he put up a HUGE fight to keep him in this climate. For the record i would have LOVED Diang to have stayed, I rate him and he has potential to be decent, but ultimately we ARE lacking in other areas that desparately require attention and Moyes clearly thinks that too, and he understood that selling him may be the ONLY option to move us forward.
This summer we are at the mercy of what other clubs bid for our players for multiple reasons, the virus's impact on finances is one of them. If someone bid for Anderson first i think we would have seen Grady stay and Anderson go, but we didn't get offers and that has forced the club's hand to accept the bid for Grady. Selling Grady may have been the ONLY option to improve the squad, so i am sad to see all this uproar again creating negativity around our club AGAIN for something that, whilst unfortunate, was possibly the boards ONLY option and given the virus has played a HUGE part in the short and long-term finances.
A Rice/ Soucek backup is ESSENTIAL, the Bmouth game showed that. None of Noble, Wilshere or Lanzini can play in a 2 man midfield. Cullen i thought did ok, and can do well as rotation, but there is still another backup required (my choice would be Hayden if he indeed wants to move back to London)
BKKHAMMER is also right, we had injuries in what turned out to be key areas last season and the backup was terrible. Keeping Diang does not solve this, in fact it possibly would have PREVENTED us fixing it.

Sorry Chelm your piece is well written but i agree with a lot what you say but i will never agree that 6th from bottom is acceptable i do beleave WH should be a mid table or a top half team. i do support DM and his backroom who was shafted when they appointed Pel. Like all West Ham supporters we will always support our loved club know matter who is playing for us.
But as you said its what it is, if we get relegated DM and his team will be fired and the cycle goes on.

Grady Diangana was a great championship player, last time he played in premier league he hardly set the world alight, he was good.
We need a Tarkowski more than a Diangana at the moment, without Ogbonna we were in a load of trouble last year, shame nobody has been in for Diop!

Let’s get behind and support, we are a bottom half/ mid table team at the moment but if we play like we did after lockdown we have the players to get in top half easily.
Too many on here already relegated without kicking a ball.
COYI.
