In the light of Chicha’s recent comments and his interest in Spain, why are we not looking at including him in a deal for Gomez? I’m sure we could sort something out, in spite of his ridiculous wages.

Eg. Give Hernandez £5m to leave and take a drop in wages at Celta, offer Celta £20m plus Hernandez.

Cost to us £25m and we get Chicha off the bill. Celta get an established finisher and £20m to reinvest.

He will not want to go to a relegation battling team regardless. It will be a Europa cup team or better most likely, or he will go to USA/ Mexico/ China. Personally I like Chica, and i think he has always put the effort in when asked. He is a finisher that needs supplying though, and we could not do that enough where Man U and Bayer Leverkusen were able to. He was all to often just buying free-kicks on the half way line for us.
Were he on 60k instead of 140k i am sure he would be staying.
Strangely, i have always thought he would be perfect squad player for Liverpool for when Firmino is out, or if they need a goal towards the end of matches. They would certainly play to his strengths.

Hi Nick You have your thoughts on Chicka which i respect but as a player who everyone thought would improve WH he has done nothinng to be icluded in a WH team Unless he gets the ball in the penalty area his contributionn has been poor not once but most of the season. Does he think when u loose a ball its agaist the law to try and retreive it.
Its time to let him go and hopefuly gets a club that suites him and his k140 a week salary.

I completely agree John, my fondness of Chica is that he is indeed a good player when in the right team, and I also think he is a good professional at the same time. But the first thing that matters is what is done on the pitch, and he is exactly what you say he is, a good box player.
Fact is, players like him (and Van Nistelrooy in his prime) are the super sharp edge of the sword in a team that is ALREADY attacking the majority of the time. But they are an expensive and ineffective addition if you are fighting with a wooden sword to start with!
Teams like us need players who can contribute more in the other areas of the game. With his salary where it is I would sell, if possible. But if we had to sell Arnie to get a striker like Gomez (because Arnie could raise more funds), meaning we keep Chica for his last season, then i would be fine with that. If we keep Arnie though, i feel Chica's salary is an issue and needs to go. Arnie will always strop while another striker is earning more than him and playing less. He will score 5 in 7 and then his focus is gone until he gets paid more, which is why he has never scored many in a season. It looks like MP will sell one of the two this summer though, so i am confident either way.
