Ed's any idea if we are looking at another centre back?
Despite being woeful at defending think we have other priorities - unless of course we are letting Ogbonna and Reid go?

{Ed002's Note - I would certainly expect Winston Reid go Glen. In terms of those looked at there have been several I am aware of:
Guillermo Maripan (CB) the very much preferred option but as I have previously explained, discussions are already in hand between Alaves and Roma - so West Ham would need to act quickly and figure out a way to persuade the player that a move to East London is more attractive than a move to Rome, but he remains the preferred option and with Roma in a bit of turmoil with the coaching situation, perhaps we can see something happen
Diego Llorente (CB) has been watched by Marseille, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, West Ham, Fulham and Sevilla since joining Real Sociadad in the summer - Spurs could be tempted to make an offer as they expect TA to leave
Gary Cahill (CB) out of contract in the summer and Chelsea will let him talk to other English sides now about a move - West Ham could renew previous interest in the player who would be a useful addition for a season, or perhaps two but they have enquired about the wages required and may step back - but at the very least his demands would need to drop down a peg or two before an offer were made
Francisco Ferreira (CB) - Benfica won't want to sell Ferro and would want far too much for WHU to pay - scratch him from the list
Ciaren Jones (CB) would be one for the future.}

Thanks Ed0002. Any news on midfielders?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to what I explained the other day. The club gave Manuel Pellegrini quite a free hand last summer and provided a large amount of money, and whatever way you look at it, it has not been a success. A couple of players have already been moved on and the likes of Carroll and Adrian are out of contract. I would doubt the club will look to taking up the option on Samir Nasri and fringe players will also me moved on, but none of that will bring in significant funds. Some money will come from the club and some money will come from the sale of Obiang and one or two others so they need to sell wisely - and they need to figure out a way to sell the club with no European football, little hope of European going forward in the short or medium term and no clear plan that is being shown to work - and that is what they will need to do to get Dani Ceballos to East London to kickstart his career.}

Cahill would be a good acquisition.

{Ed002's Note - I think for a year or perhaps two he could help the club stabalise - there is interest from elsewhere but, even though wages would be reasonably high that should not be a problem with outhers leaving. There would be a signing on fee but no huge transfer fee or other costs.}

Cheers ED002 as always brilliant insight :-)
Hopefully we can develop and blood some youth next year, you are quite right, we are miles away from European football at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}
