So Marega is making himself clear to Porto by missing training and saying he won't play. It is disappointing to read about WH fans excited about this because he wants to come to us.

We're not Marseille.

It is disappointing to hear that Marega has taken to this measure for a transfer, but to play devils advocate we don't know what he has been told by Porto. There is every chance that they told him should we get a 30m bid we will let you leave, and once the bid arrived went back on his word. Therefore took the only cause of action he though he could (or advice of agent) to push a move closer.

Let's not forget Marko did the same with Stoke when he wanted to leave them for us too. Unfortunately this is where football has come nowadays, not saying it is right (I am personally not a fan of it) but part of the culture now.

All I'd say is this may be Marega's last chance to play in the prem. At 28 and without much other interest from other clubs his time is running out to play in biggest league in the world. I don't condone how he might be going about it but I can understand the desire to push it through. The Portuguese league is a bit pony, let's be honest, so personally if I had a shot to play in the prem, on the big stage, with the best players and the big wages I'd do anything to get the deal o wrote the line.

Unfotunarly that's the power of players now days Payet has done it twice I think Marco pushed his transfer through, i'm not losing sleep as at mo nothing to do with us, just have wait and see how it pans out.

I agree with all the above and maybe I’m misjudging because I don’t know the circumstances, but on the face of it, it doesn’t look good.

I don’t like it at all. It’s shockingly unprofessional and disrespectful. When they were paying his wages every month he never complained and now he behaves like this when things aren’t going his way. As you have rightly said Payet did it to us and we were fuming with him.
What happens if he signs for us and Man Utd decide they want him and we say no? What he if doesn’t pitch up for training and doesn’t want to play for us? What happens if Man Utd come in got Arnie and make a bid of £45m and we say no? What if he downs tools? I don’t like it and would rather see a player join us or be linked with us if they are consummate professionals and honour their contracts and respect the club they are already at and the fans that have been supporting that club. Maybe I’m just old fashioned.

Nobody knows what happened behind the scenes. Porto could be making life very difficult for Marega. I wouldn't judge the man until I knew exactly what the full story was. Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see (unless you hear it from Iron Mike)
