Sorry about this fella's and I would really like your input on this but I feel like the owners have really let us down at West ham with this second striker shambles. I hear now that they missed out on Lukaku, Ba and Bendtner but really should we have left it so late to try and get second recognised striker and to offload some unwanted players. And then, to top it all we try and re-sign Carlton Cole. REALLY! I hear Mladen Petric is now free agent and if allowed to get fit and play he could be a good attribute, but why were'nt efforts to get second striker put into place as top priority rather than the signing of Downing? I feel that the board are playing a very very dangerous game and the premier league future of our great club could well be in jeopardy as a result of poor financial and player management through the summer. The remaining games until the next window are going to be a real struggle and the news that Andy Carroll won;t be fully fit until October doesn;t fill me with confidence.

I am sure that the owners did have this high up on their list of priorities. Us fans have every right to be disappointed that we did not acquire anyone for this role on the last day of the window, but it was a tough task given the restriction they were working within. I do disagree with the talk that they left it too late and should have tied something up sooner. It is easy to say that they should have got someone in sooner in hindsight, but it was only after Maiga had had a run of games that it was evidently clear that he is not up to the task. I have never been convinced of Maiga but he had to have a run to prove s wrong. He failed and left BFS with 2 days to conduct business.

Despite a winger not being our priority, I have to agree that the signing of Downing was still the right move for the club also. It is not often players like Downing come up and he was a fantastic price for someone of his pedigree. We DID need a winger (maybe not as badly as a second striker) as Cole is injury prone and RVT is not great on the wing, and we got a great deal. Downing may not have been available next year and we would have ended up paying more for someone else further down the line. It also would have freed up RVT to be another backup striker and eased the pressure slightly there.

I hope RVT gets a run of games up front if BFS can patch up the relationship with him.

aHaving spent 4m on maiga; theowners plus sam needed him to have a run out to confirm their worst suscpisions and they were he's basically useless. probably do well in championship. or in france St ettienne wanted him for 3.5m why on earth did they not jump at that. I don't know. among a distressing list of nonsense they could have brough finbogussan last January for 2.5m. now they want double plus. after agreeing 750k loan fee for quagrelia and right to buy season end. they went on to agree terms with player. all done then no of course not. West Ham United bqcktracked and wanted to pay only 300k for the seasons loan, result no deal player stayed at juventus. all that ba lukaku stuff is window dressing. Chelsea were prepared to loan lukaku to West Ham United last year for 500k with option to buy 20m. its a lot of dough but he's a lot of player. ba had already said he did not want loan in uk only in Italy or spain. bendtner. having ended coles contract what do we want him for he's no better. now were scaping bottom of barrel hoping that petric marica or a mls misfit might care to join us? I thought we were looking up and forward to new stadium. after the stoke game we need an improvement on a massive scale. we were outplayed and made to look poor against a side I imagined would finish well below us in league table. can we rely on carroll I fear not. let's see where the goals are going to come from.
