real winning teams sometimes play poorly but grind out wins.

Absolutely and the sign of a good team is that they still get positive results when they play poorly.

Hey lads. If anyone works for the club think its worth getting Leandro Damiao? he's on a free after legal struggle with Santos and could be a good back up striker? Remember was a beast on fm2012.

You bored Warrington. How about we talk about West Ham's summer transfer targets.

Everyone raving about this centre forward from Marseille (No, not fletcher) but I watched him the other night against Montpellier and he was very ordinary. Gorkan Tore is another.

id wait and see on the striker frnt to see how emenike does I think we need another winger though as moses will probably go back apart from that i'd say we are looking pretty good maybe invest in some younger players?

Good Morning All

We eventually managed to break them down in the second half last night, and was comfortable in the end, but I must admit when they went down to 10 men I was getting so so frustrated. In the post match interview Noble said they practise a lot of 11 v 10 in training and how to break teams down. Really!, how come it a half time talk from Slav to point out how they should play, quite worrying if a team goes down to 10 in the second half, saying that Villa were compact in defence and defended really well

A few players I would like to point out which some may or may not agree

Although Song did break up a lot of play, I am still on the fence with him, I think his a scruffy clumsy player, he gets to close when shepherding players who have the ball which ends up in free kicks, and his passing although usually only a few yards is complacent and lazy, there was a point last night at 1 up when he was carded, I was thinking to myself get him off as I had a feeling he was going to get another yellow and even the game up. He is a good player no doubt but he so frustrates me.

I thought both Creswell and Tomkins were fantastic, they got forward on the flanks and that's when we started to cause problem.

Collins and Reed we also solid, I think I saw Ginge pass a 60 yard ball, brilliant, than he gives the ball away trying a similar pass ( don't get Cocky Ginge)
I wish Reed would wait until after the match before trying to grab the other player shirt, he does this constantly ( they all do) but sometimes its right in front of the ref in our box and I have palpitations

Noble passing was brilliant in the 2nd half, gave away a few silly passes but that's Nobs and he is 100% Westham.

Antiono for me could be a ledge at Westham, he gives 100% all of the time, constantly tracking back and pushing forward, and he scores goals, I hope we have him for a long time, you can see how much he wants to play football. He may not be the Ronaldo or Messi of this world but like Georgie Parris, he gives everything. and that all we ask for

COYI.

I couldn't have put it any better. Song for me is a liability. He dwells on the ball to much and plays nothing but backwards balls which we all know NOBLE does. With him and noble in the team we are to negative and to slow.

Payet is no good out wide. He needs to be in the centre controlling the game.

Lets also remember that this SOLID defending was by 10 man ASTON VILLA (bottom of the premier league for a very good reason) .

Hi Phil

Yes totally agree Villa defended well and organised, my point was we had from the 17th min in the first half to try create and break them down, I can't remember a clear chance although Villa defended well as said, we were to slow in passing the ball and seemed the players were unsure how to break through. As soon as the 2nd half started we created many many chances, obviously a pep talk from Slav.

Noble said they train on these scenarios all the time, well sorry Mark it did not seem that way, we were slow and clueless until the 2nd half. Maybe a lesson learnt that if we do get the man advantage, we should be able to switch into a different system, and everybody know what they are doing and the areas to attack

I may be being a little harsh, but I was tearing my hair out last night in the first half.

So was I. This is possibly due to the fact that we expect more from our team these days.
We were very poor first half and against a better team could have got punished, but, its another 3 points.

I am still not convinced by SONG who to be truthful didn't do anything outstanding. Yes ok, when he plays it allows NOBLE more freedom but Obiang could just as easily do that and he is a lot cheaper.

I am going to be very interested to see how strong the team is that he plays on Saturday (again on TV) bearing in mind we have a cup replay against Liverpool (who I firmly believe we are a lot better than if we decide to turn up) the following Wednesday. With luck Lanzini will be back and we really need him.
