Ayew an sb signing or dgs? Don't think I've ever been so unexcited by signing since David speedie! Maybe if he scores a hat trick against the spuds I will change my mind but I wouldn't hold my breath on it! 20 million football has gone crazy again!

ost of Ayew's games were on the wing last season. He scored 6 of his 12 goals there. He played only 7 games as a centre forward, but scored 6 of his goals from that position at an average of one goal per 104 minutes. If you translate that into a full 38 game season he would have scored 33 goals for Swansea. Considering he should have more chances with the creative players West Ham have, then you can safely say that 20 goals per season should be no problem if he stays fit.
On a similar note, had Andy Carroll remained fit and played the full season in the premiership he would have scored 21 goals when you average his goals scored per minute.
Likewise Antonio, would have scored 18 goals had he maintained his goals scored per minutes and had played all his games on the right wing.
Add in the midfield contributions to goals and the odd defenders goal and we should easily beat last years 65 league goals. The secret is keeping all your best players fit and playing.

I'm struggling to understand why some are getting excited by ayew! I just don't see it at all I would rather see bony or benteke all day long! I think Carroll will score more than ayew I don't like disagreeing with fellow hammers but I hope we don't sign ayew sorry was so looking forward to this season but now feel like all the jam has been taken out of the doughnut!

I am with you peanut, promised a 20 goal a season striker, get someone that has managed to score 12 once in a season.
Why we are messing around spending 20 Mil on Ayew when we have a chance to loan / buy Bony I don't know!

ayew is still a good player, sahko scored 5 last year and he's going for16 million so it's an upgrade, bony got 4 in 26 appearances.

Most of Bony's appearances are from the bench, he hasn't been given a chance at City. 1 in 2 at Swansea and better than 1 in 2 at Vitesse. Sorry but him every time over Ayew for me.

Whilst all this talk around a marque signing has raised our hopes we have to build one step at a time. Over the last four years we have been on a journey of improvement and we are improving. 30 million plus strikers want CL football we are not there at present. I believe that we as a club and team are in very good shape, yes we need some additions to the squad but have some faith in the team running us. I am looking forward to visiting the ground next Sunday to see another step in our development. To all hammers let's support the team through thick and thin (believe me I have been through a lot of thin times) COYI.

I can't help but think that Ayew is no real improvement on Sakho, I remember when Sakho couldn't stop scoring and went on that great run of scoring in consecutive games, if the owners and Bilic were not so public about us wanting to secure a " better striker than we currently have " then we might be looking at a hungry and fit Sakho. Instead we are looking at a 20m winger who will have to join the que behind the countless midfielders we already have, if this Ayew bid was 4 weeks ago we would all be shocked to see us offer that money for him, just shows how desperate DGS are now that anything will do to keep the fans happy.

don't think we are getting a marquee striker Todd seems a bit like just spending money for sake of it he's a good player but needs someone alongside him if he's playing upfront I'd say maybe he will play in lanzini position while he's out injured.
