The club signed Andy Carroll earlier in the window but he will miss the start of the campaign with a heel injury.

On top of that the club lost the likes of Carlton Cole, Maraoune Chamakh and Wellington this summer so another means for grabbing goals this summer.

So here are five players who could be perfect for West Ham but will we sign any of them:

Gary Hooper: An Essex lad and former Tottenham trainee he would certainly bring goals to the table and that pace the club needs up top.

He is also likely to be on reasonable wages with the only real down-side likely to be his price-tag.

John Guidetti; Available on loan and a player who guarantees goals.

Demba Ba; The Hammers have been linked with a move for their former striker all summer as he struggles to make an impact at Chelsea.

Peter Odemwingie, if West Ham wanted him they could definitely get him.

Salamon Kalou, high on the list at reasonable price but high wages could be a problem

Between cole and chamkh how many goals? a great loss not
wellington never given a shot

I'm a bit worried that our squad hasn't been significantly strengthened, the facts are that we poured everything into signing Carroll who will be a great player for us but I think we paid to much because LFC paid such a ridiculous fee for him in the first place. We need other options up front so we're not one dimensional and we can mix our style of play. I'm sure there will be more players coming in just hope they're the of the standard that we need to push on next season. There's still time for for us to get in some quality players and sure the board and big sam have got it all in hand. Chris COYI

with 3 weeks to go no need to panic at West ham apparently. However, West Ham's record on actually signing the players they have targetted is pretty appalling. PANIC! Absolutely.
