Just watched a compilation on Jefferson Montero and my god, if we land him, AC will be top scorer! His wing play, pace and delivery into the box is immense!

Andy Carroll should have been playing tonight. England utter shambles- and Mark Noble is better than Henderson and over the hill Gerard. Hope the next England manager picks players not clubs next time.
And dare I say big Sam would have got a result tonight.

Need to pump roy 1st he is carp///
whats going to happen,, nothing same old manager playing players out of position with luck costa rica will put this clown to bed f22king dire.
not one single england player plies his trade abroad while this stat remains we will not win anything

Im an Ausie and l agree about Carroll playing for england

Glad he wasn't selected if I am honest, would be just our luck for him to get injured. At least this way he should start the season hungry to prove he deserves to be in England squad.

West Ham have made some shrewd signings already this summer.

Last season we serious lacked creativity in the final third, so we signed Mauro Zarate.

We were reasonably solid defensively, but we didn't have that beast in midfield to break up play, so we signed Cheikhou Kouyate.

Despite the transfer window only being open for 19 days, we have already improved our starting 11. All we need now is two full backs that can defend and provide some support when we go forward, another winger and a forward or two.

There are lots of rumours flying around about defensive targets; Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Timothee Kolodziejczak and most recently Marcos Alonso. The rumours that seem to have the most substance at the moment are deals involving Jefferson Montero and Marcos Alonso, both left sided players. So who are they.

Marcos Alonso was on loan at Sunderland for the last half of the season from Fiorentina is close to joining. This again would be an excellent bit of business. His stats were outstanding last season, he averaged an interception every 37 minutes, equalled only by Davide Santon at Newcastle. He had a cross completion rate of 28% beaten only by Cesar Azpilicueta with 32%, and he won 83% of the tackles he attempted.

Jefferson Montero. is currently in Brazil with Ecuador and after his performance against England in a pre-tournament friendly, Allardyce has made him a target. He is a very pacey winger with a great work ethic. He isn't afraid to take players on, whips in a decent ball and has chipped in with a couple of goals overt he last couple of seasons (10 goals in 63 games). Again I think this would be a great signing.
