Read earlier that West Ham have bid 5 million for a German international centre back called Antonio Rudiger, in my opinion it is a waste of money as we could spend that money to strengthen other areas such as a goal scorer and not a centre back which is our strongest area.

With defence being the part of our team that did well last season I am suprised to hear that the first player we are making a move for is another defender (having said that, this is Sam Allardyce we are talking about and we all now know that his philosophy first and foremost is not to concede. THEN AND ONLY THEN do we think about scoring)

WE Need strikers first and foremost because Andy Carroll is NOT, I SAID NOT worth £15m+ at a return of 2 goals a season. For the price of Carroll we could buy McCormack and Rhodes (53 goals between them, just a little difference and I know who I woudl rather have)

The Dave's and Brady have given themselves 10 days to get the manager they want. If they can't get him, the pork chop stays

I believe it will be Hooper- not done a lot and will be fairly cheap.

With the season now ended, it is time that transfers come to mind. West Ham can improve in a number of areas, especially upfront where we desperatley need improvement. Below are five players West Ham should be looking at.

Jordan Rhodes:
This is a player who would top my list this summer. We were continually linked with him whilst he was at Huddersfield and continue to be linked with him still. The Scottish forward, 25, constantly scores goals, grabbing 25 this season. Last season he scored 33 in all competitions. This shows he is a goalscorer, something West Ham are lacking. Whether he can do it in the Premier League remains to be seen, but that's what everyone said about Jay Rodriguez, Ricky Lambert (both now England strikers) and I;m sure next season it will be Charlie Austin. Could be acquired for £8-10m

Ross McCormack:
A player we were linked with on deadline day of the January window, and what a good signing it could have been. McCormack has been on fire all season, scoring 28 goals in 44 games. He would be a good signing in my opinion and could partner Andy Carroll if needs be. With problems starting to emerge at Leeds and question marks hanging over the manager, McCormack could be available at a good price this summer around £4m.

Nathan Redmond:
Redmond has recently been relegated with Norwich and is an exciting player. At only 20 he is still a very young player. He is also English and plays for the England U21 team. Redmond is a skillful player with bags of pace, two things the current team lacks. He is also a friend of Ravel Morrison from his time at Birmingham, so could encourage Morrison. He could be available at a good price, especially if he wants to stay in the Premier League.

Steven Caulker:
Steven Caulker only signed for Cardiff this season from Tottenham and is 22 years of age. He is a solid defender and has even grabbed 5 goals this season. Looking at Cardiff from an outside point of view, what with Vincent Tan, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to leave. He could provide essential cover in defence and could also push for a starting spot.

Lewis Holtby:
Could be another great aquisition from relegated Fulham. Didn;t quite fit the Tottenham style but is a world class midfielder who can create and score goals. He could be a great addition to the squad this year and certainly room in midfield if we lose Diame, Diarra etc

That is exactly the 5 players I would pick.
No reason why we couldn't get them, all realistic signings for our current team and best thing is they are all British (lewis may as well be even though he's german lol) How can us mortal fans see this and these paid proffesional scouts etc not?

Rhodes just isn't worth that money- a sub for Scotland, come on let's aim higher {Ed039's Note - Like Andy Carroll? Rhodes doesnt get a game for Scotland because Gordon Strachan doesnt fancy him, doesnt mean he is a bad player, just some players and managers dont fit)

If we can't get Caulker I would take Lescott.

This goes without saying, but we desperatley need one or two strikers in the off season who can score goals.

May I suggest that we try and get Ross McCormack and Jordan Rhodes. Everyone always asks the question "can they make the step up in class"?

Well, Jay ROdriguez and Lambert did and Rodriguez is now on the verge of the england squad. Injury apart he would be on the plane to Brazil.

So why do we question McCormack and Rhodes? COmbined wages have to be around £100k. If we were to lose Maiga and Carlton that would pretty much cover the wages issue but we'd haave to prolific strikers on board.

I'm fairly sure that £13m would get the pair of them so if we could sell Maiga and Diarra (diarra could be replaced by Holtby or Sidwell) for £3m we would need to find £10m. Not bad business for a pair who scored 53 goals between them this season.

Sam or no Sam. This is good business for the future and a pretty good front 3 by any teams standards (outside of the top 4)

I do like the idea of McCormack and Rhodes up front however Sam Allardyce would never have them because he doesn't fit the Sam Allardyce style of play

How about Carlton Cole interview on the West Ham United website quotes: "We're going to start next season with at least two fit strikers. Obviously we need reinforcements and we've got Modibo coming back as well, so we'll see how that goes with everyone getting a good pre-season under their belts and trying to perform to the best of their abilities"

Modibo Maiga everybody! *round of applause*

Carlton talk is like his football CRAP
