Isn't it the managers responsibilty to tell the board what players he needs. The way we were playing last season all revolved around two players, Carroll and Nolan. He could have gone for Hangeland, Huth and many others
He kept o'brien, and he wanted 'Jarvis (need I go on)
Is it hardly therefore any suprise we now struggle.
New season next year needs a new start with fresh blood and its a time to get a manager that has humility, integrity and knows more than one way of playing.
And don;t think for one minute our great start to the season was down to him because it wasn't. He never wanted Sakho and it was only because Carroll was injured (another one of his suggested buys)that his hand was forced.

Hi, phil, agree with comments, but Sam would have been nailed on to stay in position if we achieve 55 points or close, as we do not have adequate back up for injuries, this is unlikely to happen, therefore the chances of him leaving, are much stronger, although motivation plays a big part, and you are correct, in saying Sams negative, you still need quality, on the pitch, to compete, with sides, like arsenal, who have 25 quality players, motivation can only take you so far, quality is the rest, and what manager could have got us a point at the Emirates yesterday.? Totally agree, bu as we have now seen with Aston Villa, a fresh look and a more attacking style scares the hell out of teams.
Vlla are the same side that looked so poor earlier in the season but they now use what pace tey have to full effect, whereas previously they tried to bolster the back which can't work and Allardyce is of the same mindset that he likes to have a strong defence.
As Tim Sherwood pointed out, too many passes played sideways and not direct enough to posea threat which is exactly what we do
Its clear weneed to make a lot of changes and its also an ideal opportunity with our remaining games to see what youth can make the step up but tha won't happen with Sam in the box seat
