Hi this is a question for ed or Mike calleri deal was 4 mill which is a lot of money without a option to buy I don't understand the thinking behind this as I assumed we would have done a deal with option to buy in it, don't get me wrong if he scores the goals and gets us in top 4 it would be great but I can't help thinking this ain't like sully, what is in it for the club if he flops and if he doesn't then we also get nothing confused.

{Ed002's Note - It is WHU contributing to the coffers of a London-based company who are milking the last they can out of their scam involving Deportivo Maldonado. It is an unusual situation and something that the football authorities would like to end. It is embroiled in an investment company called the Stellar Group who financially control Deportivo Maldonado, a Uruguayan side with no real facilities and a small fan base. They legally hold (or have held) the rights to a number of players who are high profile (Jonathan Calleri, Alex Sandro and Pablo Osvaldo all come to mind) and were "purchased" and then sold on at a significant profit to the London-based investment company and the agent who deals with most of these players, Gustavo Arribas, who is also the Director General of the Argentinian Intelligence agency. Manchester City would like to purchase Rulli outright but only 70% of his rights are for sale and he cannot therefore play in England. To overcome this, Manchester City have sold their portion of his ownership and Deportivo Maldonado have sold part of their portion of his ownership (in reality Stellar's and Arribas' portion) to Real Sociedad and then agreed to sell the remaining 30% over a three year period to Real Sociedad to overcome Spanish rules regarding part ownership. Manchester City for their part in facilitating this has and agreement that they can buy the goalkeeper for something like €15m once he is fully owned by Real Sociedad (or for a cost of €15M plus a negoiated fee for the remaining rights). As with any buy back clause, they would need to any higher offer made by another side in the future. Rulli would not be eligible for a UK work permit but I understand that he will seek a European passport. That would be seen by the UK as a passport of convenience and would not help him. The player knew that if he moved to Manchester City he would have to be loaned out and eventually probably sold. Like Calleri, none of this is illegal but perhaps it should be - it is well beyond the third party ownership that is rife in South America. Deportivo Maldonado is a effectively a shell for Stellar and Arribas to exploit Uruguayan tax laws. West Ham will, during the process of sorting out a work permit, be warned that if it transpires that Calleri's ownership turns out not to be in the hands of the minor Uruguayan side that they will be held responsible just to make matters clear.}

Wow ok thanks tevez and mascherano all over again and if everything isn't as it seems we could get our collars felt this transfer confuses me thanks for the info ed but I'm still scratching my head as to why we would even entertain this loan.

{Ed002's Note - West Ham need to make absolutely sure that everything is clean on this one.}

I'm sure they will but I just don't get why risk it we pay 4mill to put him in the shop window for some scamming triangular investment company with out any option to buy.

Thanks for clearing things up Ed. Bit of a complicated deal then. By the sounds of it it's going to be difficult getting him to sign on the dotted line permanently. I know he's regarded highly in football many people saying he has the potential to go on to be a star. However he's still young a raw talent with no European experience until obviously a club like West Ham come along with problems up front where he can get a lot of game time in a competitive league. We could end up being his shop window if he does have a good season his value goes up and the fat cats that own him line their pockets. At this stage in his career West Ham get a handful of goals out of it. The fans start to take him as one of their own and he's off into the sunset at the end of the season. I find it hard to believe that Gold/ Sullivan would not have some sort of first refusal at the end of the loan even if the price has still not been successfully negotiated. I've got a good feeling about this kid by the way and would feel a lot happier knowing that he's ours!

{Ed002's Note - He is a player that Spurs, Inter and Chelsea have previously been close to - not an unknown.}

nothing sounds straightforward about this in fact sounds well dodgy, great explination thanks Ed, I got to be honest after the tevez deals and the deal we got with stadium there will be an awful lot of people wanting to take a shot at us let's hope the board have got this spot on.

12 Aug 2016 21:50:53
He may not be an unknown but he ain't cut his teeth in the big leagues yet so still very much unproven.

12 Aug 2016 22:38:42
He may well be unproven but we have just stepped up and paid 4mill for the privilege of putting him in the shop window for his ownership investment company in the best league in the world seems to me they have had a better deal than us especially if he does hit the ground running and they want 40-50mill for him in a years time then it's thanks West Ham and Tata.

6th and a good run in Europe and I will be delighted. Injuries to big AC and Antonio as our starting right back and our position is likely to fall to 10th.
