I find the talk about the seating capacity at the Olympic stadium very confusing. Admittedly I know that figures tent to be rounded up/down. The capacity has for some time been mentioned as 54,000.In an interview recently Karren Brady mentioned the possibility of an extra 12000 seats-66,000 . Meanwhile I have seen an attendance figure of 55,925 for the recent Argentina/South Africa 3rd place Rugby match i. e. nearly 2,000 more than the much published figure. In one of his recent posts IronMike mentioned 65,000 and the very exciting figure of 72,000.I am at a loss. If anyone can give me some definitive help I would be very grateful.

When the stadium was originally constructed, it held a tad over 80,000, on conversion to a football stadium, it was felt, at that time that that type of attendance. Would be unlikely, and different sets of criteria, for football were to be used anyway, the stadium was re figured for 54,000. With corperate and all other boxes filled could reach 56,000, there are large spaces blanked off now, some of this could be removed at a future date to west hams cost only, making, 66,000 further work again at west hams cost only could conceivably see further alterations, making it just about possible to get to the 72,000 mark, Personally, I think the take is this, IF we are a success at the stadium. and there is huge demand, an extension to 66,000 is quite likely, wether or not the further extension will be done is another matter, as the seats would be so high, it may not be appropriate, , we shall have to wait and see IRONMIKE.
