Having heard positive things from the West ham ref Cheikhou Kouyate over the last few days and how he was due to sign etc why am I now not surpised to hear the following which sounds so familiar (I think we all now know already he won;t end up with us, same old story and then we'll hear some rubbish about how Sam wasn;t happy with the move)

"West Ham will have to move fast if they want to sign Cheikhou Kouyate after reports in Spain claimed Sevilla and Valencia are making advanced moves to sign the Anderlecht defender. Sam Allardyce has been linked with a move for the Senegal international repeatedlley and who looks certain to leave the Belgian club during the summer.
The West Ham manager wants to strengthen his backline and ensure they are more solid at the back and Kouyate was seen as the ideal solution despite 8.5m euro's asking price.
West Ham and Valencia have already made an approach to clinch his signature, but reports in Spain claim Sevilla are also now in the running and hope to have finances available when Ivan Rakitic completes his move to Barcelona.

I do want to ask the West ham world an intruging question.

Why is it that when we identify a target and have talks etc it seems to take us weeks to make any progress whereas other clubs out of the blue just identify the target, pay the wages, get medical job done in a matter of a few days.

Take Everton for instance and that giant they brought in who we were after for weeks.
We messed about and messed about for ages over work permit and in the end we didn't bother (Ok, it didn;t work out for them but the deal was done in days).

Why do we have the same mentality every single Transfer window. Finally, I understand we try to haggle for a better deal but when a club names its price for a player why do we try and under bid on every single target. If we see a player we really really want then just pay the blooming money and go get him

Has anyone esle got the same fears as me. We are looking pretty thin on the ground if you take out our youth players, with only 18 players and we might lose 5 of them (see below)

If this is anywhere near accurate and we need a squad of 25, we better start pulling our fingers out cause I figure we are about 10 players short. We appear to be losing far too many although we did need a clear out

If Reid decides to leave we have 3 defenders to cover 4 spaces LOL

Maybe time to start bringing through some the academy players.

I hope so. A nice blend of youth and experience next season and bring the kids through as Alex Ferguson would hve t United
