Sam Allardyce has turned the odd career or two around in the past. can he do it with Diego Milito of Inter Milan?

West Ham United are in the relegation scrap. Make no doubt about it but come the end of the season The Hammers fans are going to be very pleased if they remain in the topflight after what has been a difficult campaign.

The injury to Andy Carroll has rendered them impotent recently - with Modibo Maiga, Mladen Petric and Carlton Cole all bereft of goals. Even auxiliary striker Kevin Nolan has gone off the boil now - leaving Sam Allardyce wondering if another striker needs to arrive in January.

Carroll is back in training, and looking like making a return perhaps before 2014 so they could suck it and see.

But today Allardyce has been linked with one more option - Diego Milito.

Why sign him?

Many will say easy, look at his record. 235 goals in 521 games in his club career. that is quite sensational.

But this is not the Milito of 2009-10. The Milito that conquered Europe for Jose Mourinho, this is an injury prone 34-year-old Milito lacking in first-team football - washed up, a has-been, a wreck who has just got over a potential career ending injury.

Is he worth taking a punt on and if Sam does will he play one game and end up with the rest on the injury list.

Surely West ham need a younger stronger striker that's coming into his own who can take a few bumps and surely if that's the case Sam should already be hot on the trail of Jordan Rhodes with cash plus players offer having already been tabled.

With Blackburn's poior financial situation its going to be a case of first come first served with the right offer and, god forbid, West ham do get relegated they could cut their losses and let carroll go safe in the knowledge they have a striker capable of firing them back into the premier league

Do West ham therefore plump for possible short term fix with Milito or invest in a true "FOX IN THE BOX" but more long term investment in RHODES?

I know what I would do. If I win the Lottery I'll give Sam the money

Want him out, not turning careers

If I win the Euromillions tonight ill donate £10m to West Ham to buy Jordan Rhodes :)

It all makes financial and common sense for us to invest in RHODES but we WON'T. We will end up with Jelavic, possibly Milito or another who's career is coming to an end or is over POSSIBLY MARADONA EH?
