So, Braithwaite has rejected us because he thinks coming to West Ham would be a step back in his career.

Well, I suppose he is at Barcelona - but he would have jumped at the chance when he was at Toulouse or Leganes!

Would like to see some progress on Origi who I would have thought would be a better bet.

Any news?

billprosser

{Ed002's Note - Divock Origi (S) The interest of Cercle Brugge has gone due to asking price. Fenerbahce are interested in a loan with an option to buy. Crystal Palace had him on a list of potential Batshuayi and Wickham replacements but have moved on. He will be somewhere down the extensive list of strikers West Ham are considering but might be a realistic option as they need to fix two key problems. Wolves offer an option but not at the asking price. Liverpool will keep him if they cannot get the price they want.}

1.) 20 Aug 2021 11:30:00
Good Barcelona can keep him.

2.) 20 Aug 2021 15:27:27
If we were seriously looking at him we have major problem
He may have done ok in the euro but in my opinion he looked like a headless chicken but hasn't done notheing elsewhere
If moyes is really looking at bring him in we need to get moyes as far away from transfers as possible.

3.) 20 Aug 2021 15:32:08
And just when I thought the rumours couldn't get much worse than Braithwaite, along comes a Luke de Jong link . Oh my days, I really hope this is just media mischief!

4.) 20 Aug 2021 16:17:43
There wasn't really an offer load of bollocks. Step down? only reason he got to Barcelona was as an emergency singing he would he 4th choice in most prem teams and would be an average championship striker.

5.) 20 Aug 2021 16:31:45
You can't blame him for wanting to stay he's been promoted to ball boy now Messi has left.

6.) 21 Aug 2021 09:02:39
Tbf I’ve lost interest in Barcelona now that Messi has gone. I only used to watch them for his magic. I guess that makes me a PSG armchair fan now.

7.) 21 Aug 2021 10:59:13
You mean you aren't going to tune in to watch Braithwaite bring the water bottles on to the pitch Markro?

I agree though Messi, Neymar and Mpabbe is some forward line.

8.) 21 Aug 2021 18:05:19
In all honesty we may been linked with him he hasn’t done anything since he left France how many times have we seen French players scoring for fun but when they have moved clubs they have struggled to adapt to different games we don’t need to lay out massive transfer fees n agent’s fees look at Haller and Anderson then look at Antonio sousek coufal picked up for reasonable fees. we don’t have a large transfer kitty so DM has to get it right.

21 Jul 2021 12:21:58
How do we feel about the rumours of Liverpool's interest in Bowen?

billprosser

{Ed002's Note - Jarrod Bowen (RW) I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool at this time but Bowen is a player who would be an ideal replacement for Shaqiri - and is HG. Liverpool have a good relationship with his agent and may well have spoken with him. Others have suggested that Harry Wilson should be given a chance in that same role. I don't know if West Ham would be open to selling. Their focus is on other positions. So it makes some sense if West Ham are open to a sale and if the player accepts a bit-part role. I am not aware of any other clubs showing an interest.}

1.) 21 Jul 2021 14:42:01
Bill, I would be gutted to see Bowen go, really hope not, I think he should start every game providing he is fit of course? He’s been a great buy for us, a real DM player, full of running and desire! He signed a 5.5 year deal with us in January 2020, he’s a massive player for us imo. It’s even more vital to retain him if we get nobody else up front!
âš’âš’âš’âš’.

2.) 21 Jul 2021 15:08:29
That's the key though - would we be able to afford someone like Abraham and keep Rice if we sold Bowen? We do have other options in wide positions - Fornals, Benrama, Antonio, Lanzini, Masuaku and maybe Lingard.

In the end if they want him we would probably have to let him go and maybe take Harry Wilson?

3.) 21 Jul 2021 15:50:54
I think personally Abraham is overrated from the little I have seen of him, maybe £15m max and that’s only because of his age! ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒.

4.) 21 Jul 2021 18:12:35
I'm expecting bowen will improve and have a really solid season with us! Same with Fornals and Benrahma. Given his age, the fact that he's home grown and we paid 25m for him i suspect we would be commanding a fee of around the 50m mark?

5.) 23 Jul 2021 12:42:43
Chelms, I think Abraham has proved he does score goals, how many times have many times have we paid big money or loan deals for strikers who do not hit the mark, I can understand where you come from on you opinion of Abrahams but he does score goals, and the amount of chances we do create i'm sure if we did get him he will be a 15 plus for the season and the very least,

6.) 24 Jul 2021 20:43:13
i do agree with you Warrington, he's fast good in the air and a
scores goals.
Iread we will offer Dec. a bumper contract which i don't agree with that at all.
One bad tackle and we end up with the gravy train again. We should have a wage policy and i don't think throwing money at players is the right Way to go. If any player wants to leave do we rearly need them.
Of course we want Dec. to stay he should remember it was CHeLsea who let him go and West Ham made him into the player he is today.

7.) 25 Jul 2021 08:16:44
Bideford, Why shouldn’t we offer Rice a bumper contract, he’s our player, it shows how much we value him, I think that’s exactly the right thing to do, it’s not an untried new recruit from abroad!
Yes he’s turned into what he is through WH giving him another opportunity, but you could argue Chelsea gave him his first opportunity and could be viewed as his Mother club, but mainly it’s his own dedication and attitude that’s made him the player he is now!
He seems a very level headed man, but if his head gets turned elsewhere, who can blame him, we need to show we want him! That’s the least we can do, the rest is in hands, we will survive if he goes! ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

8.) 26 Jul 2021 23:44:06
But Bideford other than paper talk who says he wants to leave? I am happy in my job but have someone that keeps ringing me offering me more and more money, it may come a point where I can't say no. Am I happy at present, yes, would I push to leave? No, Am I searching? No. If my present company gave me another 50% would it become almost impossible for the other company, yes. The only difference for Declan is that he may also like to be chasing trophies every season, that is the intangible and why he may go anyway, we don't know. But we should be paying him what he is worth or we should expect him to go and should cash in now.

22 Jul 2019 17:20:10
Anyone else think the time might be right to sell Lanzini as he is in the last year of his contract and we have a lot of talent in his position?

Use the funds to strengthen at the back and maybe a good back-up striker?

billprosser

{Ed002's Note - The issue has to be fitness. Maybe a one year extension to keep value and then see how the season goes.}

1.) 22 Jul 2019 17:53:00
I think we may have seen the best of Lanzini. If we could get £15m ish then I’d sell. He looks incredibly leggy now.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 17:59:15
Not me. I’m a real fan. I’d love to see him him up with Wilshere and Fornals.

3.) 22 Jul 2019 18:33:18
*team up.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 19:54:35
You can´t play Fornals, Wilshere and Lanzini in the same team!

5.) 22 Jul 2019 20:00:57
Agree with BillProsser/ Markwhu, players rarely come back after such a serious injury to the standard they were before, have a feeling Yarmalenko may be a passenger as well? if somebody came in with £15m offer, i’d Let him go, but can’t see that offer happening? ⚒⚒.

6.) 22 Jul 2019 20:35:13
Alan shearer did!

7.) 22 Jul 2019 20:53:57
I would think Pel. would give him 5-6 games before thinking about Lanzini leaveing at his best he was up their with the best, i would give him a chance to get match fit before makeing any decision on a player worth a lot more than 15 mil before his injury. Its the same with Wiltshire a lot of fans wanted him gone but let's see how they both work out.
Also i would take a chance on A. Iwobi from Arsenal at 21 he's the right age to improve has a lot of Prem. exp. can only get better.

8.) 23 Jul 2019 07:32:16
Guyser, it’s easy to give examples of players that have overcome bad injuries, also just as easy to so the same with those that haven’t overcome them! I am not saying write Lanzini off, I said Rarely do players come back as good or consistent to previous standards, how many examples have we already had at WH, you don’t need me to name them! It’s too early at the moment to criticise even The supposedly fit players when it’s pre season, but a lot so much comes down to personality and dedication overcoming serious injury, also how long they have left on their contracts to have a prolonged holiday!

9.) 23 Jul 2019 08:44:28
Iwobi would be a good buy. I mentioned him some time back. When he played for Arsenal against us, he and Laccazette caused us problems. Iwobi’s final ball is poor, but his national side play him down the middle. I believe Arsenal would sell for £20m, and at his age he’d be a good buy. Plus he’s never injured.

10.) 23 Jul 2019 09:51:49
Whilst Lanzini was clearly rusty when he came back last season, I still saw good pace, control, vision and, most importantly, full commitment to the challenge of the tackle.

Similarly, there is nothing tentative about Wilshere’s pre-season performances.

So far, Yarmolenko’s recovery seems the most questionable.

As has been suggested above, if we’re top heavy with attacking midfielders, and/ or need to generate cash to buy in where we are lightweight, I would sell Yarmolenko well before Lanzini.

I also disagree that Fornals, Lanzini and Wilshere can’t play in the same team. If you look at Wilshere’s career stats, he has often played very deep and there was some discussion last year of of him being the ideal player to support Rice in defensive/ central mid.

11.) 23 Jul 2019 11:09:20
In my opinion Lanzini is our most creative player hopefully after a full preseason he will be back to his best playing in the hole behind Haller can't believe some fans want to sell him give a years extension then hopefully a long term contract on the money he deserves next summer.

12.) 23 Jul 2019 14:23:14
I find Lanzini frustrating, clearly he has talent but fails to deliver on a consistent basis!

Payet elevated his game and of course along with others as well in that team!

I think he tries to mimic is international team mate Messi in trying to dribble all the time which unfortunately more often than not he comes up short on!

13.) 23 Jul 2019 18:51:47
Some good points Costa, payet until the strike fiasco was possibly if not the best then certainly one of the best players I have seen in a whu shirt . Lanzini is quality but can get bullied off the ball . As for messi? Yes he plays with world class stars but even he doesn't always produce, let's see what a fit lanzini can do :)

14.) 23 Jul 2019 22:18:59
Lanzini is worth considerably more £15 million that's what you pay for decent championship players he's an ARGENTINIAN international for £30 to 40mill is right its going to take him time to get confidence that the ACL is going to hold up he would havebroken down by now if it wasnt going to hold up. COYI.

15.) 25 Jul 2019 10:46:18
Why would we want to sell Lanzini, at his best he is at least on a par with Erickson and Mata for example
Sure we seem to be stacked with creative midfielders but injuries and drops in form mean we can’t have enough .
Now we have bought a classy striker let’s make sure that he isn’t starved of decent service .
Last season when he returned was admittedly not the Lanzini we have become accustomed to, but he was out for a long time and it’s difficult to pick up where he was before the injury when only featuring in the back end of the season.
Hopefully a proper pre season will see him back to his creative best . I certainly wouldn’t give up on him .

16.) 25 Jul 2019 11:13:58
Problem is if he has a good season we could lose him for nothing next summer and we need funds now to strengthen in defence and need another striker.

17.) 25 Jul 2019 11:16:21
Personally, I’d prefer Mata or Erickson.

18.) 25 Jul 2019 16:54:57
Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson are the three Pellegrini will use behind Heller, and probably Rice and Noble/ Medel sitting behind. That is a quality set up, plenty of creativity there, to break open those packed defences that teams often play. From what I saw first half of Lanzini against Man Cty in the Asia Trophy, he has plenty to offer, maybe not at his peak yet but I think he will get there come the start of the season. Yarmalenko, Antonio, Snodgrass and Wilshire (who looks in great form could well start against Man Cty) provide quality back up.

19.) 26 Jul 2019 06:43:45
Lanzini has a 2 year extension option to the club's benefit I believe which he is currently challenging the legal veracity of.

20.) 26 Jul 2019 16:54:46
Stubbo, hmmm sounds ominous if he may be challenging it, why I wonder would he do that unless he wants away? Looking for a big money payoff maybe before his opportunities start running out? âš’âš’âš’âš’.

21.) 27 Jul 2019 11:10:42
Pretty sure its over money from what I recall.

Think the rumour was the extension takes him up to 70k per week automatically from the 40k odd he's on, and he's obviously seen wages at the club spiral since signing that deal so believes should be getting more.

22.) 27 Jul 2019 13:54:22
If he’s going up to £70k, which, according to reports, is what we are paying Haller - that’s got to be plenty. Of the two who is likely to get more playing time this year?

Bearing in mind, admittedly through no fault of his own, he has basically just had a year on the sidelines, he needs to prove himself.

I’m a real fan of his, but, naive as it sounds, I feel he owes us at the moment.

23.) 31 Jul 2019 13:49:16
Medical advice after acl is approx 80% chance of same fitness as before or even better. So fingers crossed.

We were 6th at the beginning of the year and Europa League Quarter-Finalists.

It was clear the squad needed strengthening in some areas but the only incoming was a player who hadn't kicked a ball in anger for 18 months.

Meanwhile we lose 3 players (including a German defender with 27 caps).

To then set-up with a second choice right back playing left wing and one of the best wingers in the league playing out of position while Cornet and Ings sit in the bench is mad.

To lose 0-6 is a disgrace.

If we had won 6-0 the manager would be taking the credit and takes the blame when we were embarrassed.

Another thing on DINOSAUR DAVE is ANTONIO was told he isn't allowed to shoot from outside the box unbelievable.⚒⚒⚒

2.) 13 Feb 2024 19:17:12
MOYES is slowly ruining KUDUS by keep asking him to defend they guy is an all out ATTACKING player but he's going to be MOYESED if he ain't already such a shame.⚒⚒⚒

3.) 14 Feb 2024 08:05:02
So, it seems TIM STEIDTEN did due dilligence and had 6 players lined up but Dithering Dave said No. Seemingly the list of names has been leaked to the press and Sullivan is none to happy about it! He has bigger things to concern himself than what the press is saying. SORT OUT OUR MANAGER POSITION and do it NOW

4.) 15 Feb 2024 13:47:13
Never mind. The board (Brady and Sullivan) keep giving Moyes four more games to “turn things around”. When we get a win against Forest, Brentford or Burnley, then the Dynamic Duo will say, “Well, that was lucky we didn’t have a knee jerk reaction and sack him”. Until the next bad result, when he’ll get another four games. Soon they’ll be running out of fixtures. It’s a complete farce. Sullivan is running WHU as if it’s all tits and bums, ‘cos that’s all he knows. Someone should point out that the only tits and bums at WHU are all seated around the boardroom table.

Whatever happened to Grady Diangana?

billprosser

1.) 03 Aug 2022 21:05:14
Bench warming at the baggies - gets on a fair bit but 2 goals and 1 assist in 41 appearances show where he is development wise.

2.) 03 Aug 2022 21:53:16
Thought all the noise when he got sold was over the top, he was never all that.

3.) 03 Aug 2022 23:26:37
Harry Hindsight is always the best trader in town.

Do you think 37 points is enough, or do we need one more win?

billprosser

1.) 13 Jan 2022 22:06:04
Can’t recall who said it, but watching the West Ham v Norwich show the other day someone said 36 might be enough this season with the way the bottom of the league is forming up. We should have a staying up party ?

2.) 14 Jan 2022 13:37:52
So we're safe? Hurrah!

20 Sep 2021 12:29:56
We are going to have more of these matches where we drop points after Europa League away games.

Not easy with a small squad to keep the energy levels against a team with a deeper squad and 2 days more rest.

Without the trip to Zagreb - or if Antonio had been available - you have to think we would have at least drawn the game.

Agree?

billprosser

31 Aug 2021 17:58:19
Looks like Kral will happen but not Bamba.

We should have enough attacking options - and having Kral may give the option to let Soucek play a more advanced role in some games.

I was just wondering if it was worth putting in a cheeky take it or leave it bid for Eddie Eketiah as he’s only got a year left on his contract, this is the last chance Arsenal have got of getting a fee for him?

West Ham is privately owned so there isn't a quoted share price. And no more than an asset management company isn't quite accurate. They are a private equity company investing in businesses planning to be able to increase value - which isn't quite the same thing.

Understand your feelings boys but if we want to kick on we are going to have to get better players and that means better wages.

Moyse said he wants to sign players who will improve the team and Zouma fits that bill. If we want to compete with bigger clubs we are going to have to be competitive on wages.

If Zouma is better than Dawson he can expect to be paid more. And if he isn't better why are we singing him?
