It looks like our transfer window has come alive slightly. Aguerd done, Areola done, attention now onto Lingard and JWP?

I'm reluctant to agree with the pursuit of Lingard, he's effectively turned us down 3 times now, yet Moyes is still in for him - I can't see him having the impact he had when he first came, but if Vlasic is heading out on loan, it makes sense? I just don't want to see a silly contract thrown at him which will upset the balance of the squad.

It looks like we're also in the winger from Villareal, he's a very handy player.

Do West Ham literally have one scout/negotiator, as in, are we only able to focus on one signing at a time? You'd think in this day and age, with the money clubs have you could pursue and negotiate with multiple players at the same time to secure transfers earlier? I may be wrong but it just seems outdated.

Agree with Merceri and TKH posts, Areola is more than a decent Keeper, he’s settled, should replace our great Fab as number 1 now!
I agree it seemed Lingard messed us around, but ManU it seemed threw a spanner in the works as well so I wouldn’t be unhappy to see him with us, can’t expect the same impact as the loan deal, but whoever we get, will they settle or be any better, all transfers are risky, so I can see the sense when a player is known to a Manager and played under him previously! Be surprised if we got JWP but not unhappy, but £70m as suggested is overpriced imo⚒⚒⚒⚒

2.) 27 Jun 2022 15:09:50
Southampton asking for 75m for JWP, massively overpriced. Same with lingards wage demands reported to be 180k a week with signing on fees.

Can't see us paying anywhere near that for JWP we could get 2 decent signings for that amount and we should steer clear of lingard offer him 100k a week take it or leave it, he won't get more than that abroad.

I know it might seem like we have jumped into action but realistically they've had a long time to sort areola. We still seem to be flitting between targets broja has transfer Saga written all over it. Wouldn't be surprised if Moyes is hyper focuses on lingard maybe he should direct his efforts into finding younger players who actually want to be here.

3.) 28 Jun 2022 06:59:52
We'll clearly be following our standard approach of it not all being about only wanting a specific player for a position, but having identified 2 or 3, enquiring for all of them, and seeing which represents the best value and then pursuing that one.

Is the reason we get linked to so many players.it gets out we've enquired for 4 wingers say (Sarr, Danjuma, Lewis-Potter, Dennis) which is true, but we only actually want one, and the process is then seeing which is likely to represent the vest value in terms of fee, wages etc.

We also end up annoying clubs I suspect on account of the 'cried wolf' principle where it seems like we want a player but in reality we're just testing the water.

My suspicion is Moyes wants a player like Danjuma that can be out Son (of Spurs).able to play up top when the main striker is out, but worth his place in the squad and team in his own right. Sarr is considered the same but the fact he normally plays in the right will probably go against him.

Reckon we'll push hardest for Danjuma, with Sarr as backup.

Would have loved us to go for Gordon of Everton who looks fantastic, but he's at this stage probably considered to be too 'one position only' to be of interest in a squad where Moyes likes to have Swiss army knives.

4.) 28 Jun 2022 07:04:00
As for JWP.reckon this is pie in the sky. Only attraction we'd have to him in my opinion is the chance to play alongside Rice and maybe translate that into the World Cup squad, where his partner in CM is probably one of the few open spots in Southgate's line up.

Doubt that will be strong enough to turn his head though given he seems happy and settled at Southampton, has a young family and is on a fat contract there. London life not for everyone afterall.

Not sure where we end up going with CMs. JWP likely a no, Phillips already gone.suspect links to McGinn will resurface again.but could be the position we struggle most to fill. For this reason don't see Soucek going anywhere.

5.) 28 Jun 2022 10:21:15
JWP is highly unlikely, Saints want too much and he is pretty happy where he is. I could see him moving if Chelsea or Liverpool come calling, but sadly I don’t think he will join us.

6.) 29 Jun 2022 12:20:57
Could JWP replace Soucek?

7.) 29 Jun 2022 15:43:26
Lewis porter possibly off to Brentford. We are apparently PREPARING bid for joakim maehle

{Ed002's Note - Joakim Maehle (RB) Agent has been speaking to West Ham about the player knowing about their need for a RB and knowing that another side are offering a player to them.}

8.) 29 Jun 2022 22:22:51
Do we need a RB, with Coufal, Johnson and the up and coming Ashby in the squad? We're much thinner elsewhere.

9.) 30 Jun 2022 09:14:08
Yes think LB is a bigger need.

10.) 30 Jun 2022 19:33:11
Maehle can play left and right back

11.) 30 Jun 2022 23:20:59
Is it true ed that a contract offer has been offered to lingard and if true I wouldn't touch him he's obviously waiting for another club to come in so we shouldn't be signing a player who clearly hasn't got west ham as his no1 team so rip up that contract if its true

{Ed002's Note - I think it is being discussed still.}

31 Aug 2021 14:16:34
Vlasic signed and confirmed on West Ham Instagram.

Morning all,

One for the Ed's if you're able to help me - what sort of additional money would we be looking at by qualifying to the champions league? Is there a rough estimate of the breakdown of what money we'd recieve for

- Qualifying
- Getting out of the group Stage
- Making it to quaters, semi, final etc?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated - cheers.

TKHammer

{Ed002's Note - It is something like this:
For qualifying for the Group Stage: €15M
Assuming West Ham win their 6 group stage games: €16M, if they win four and draw 2 it will reduce about €12M
Getting to the last 16 will bank the club around €10M
and another €10M for getting to the quarter finals another €10M
Getting in to the semi-final will boost the coffers by €12M
Each finalist will get €15M
And WHU will get a further €4M when they lift the cup in Saint Petersburg on May 28.

Given a little rounding, West Ham winning the CL next season will €82M and the benefit of attracting considerably more sponsorship.}

1.) 08 Apr 2021 11:48:19
We can all dream Hahaha.

2.) 08 Apr 2021 22:22:15
Is that all, damn not really worth going for then is it 😂.

14 Jan 2021 19:25:58
I've just seen Boulaye Dia score a bicycle kick and celebrate with the âš’ arm gesture.

Is it happening? Ed's, any news on this?

TKHammer

{Ed002's Note - I have explained there is interest.}

1.) 14 Jan 2021 20:37:13
Dia looks the most suited to Moyes style of play out of the strikers we've been linked too and I think his hard work would endear him to the fans hope we get it done quick!

2.) 14 Jan 2021 21:41:35
Looked back, he has been doing that celebration for some time. It has something to do with slavery in some African countries. Saw a picture of him doing it from 2019.

3.) 15 Jan 2021 09:38:59
Pissing myself at Ed, like an angry dad. “I’ve explained the situation, now sit down and eat you veg” Hahahaha. We are like exited kids if this is a goer lol.

4.) 19 Jan 2021 02:17:07
Another name being mentioned is Alassane Plea from B Monchengladbach though we will be priced out for him.

03 Jan 2021 15:33:49
Happy new year to all - apologies for the delay, first January in a long time where I've looked at our position in the league and not sighed with frustration!

Ed's - do you have any news on players we're looking at bringing in/ moving on. Or concrete areas that Moyes is looking to reinforce? I'm assuming a ST has to be number 1 priority, and potentially now GK with Fabs recent injury?

Any updates are as always, greatly appreciated!

TKHammer

{Ed002's Note - They like all clubs have looked at plenty of players but a S is the priority and, in January if possible.
Boulaye Dia (S) Reims striker who would need to considerably improve his strike rate but has been of interest to West Ham, Brighton, Everton and Marseille. Says he wants to play for Lyon.
Mariano Diaz (S) It is true that Real Madrid have the representatives of Mariano Diaz offering him around on ideally a loan to buy option as they continue to clear the decks ready for a summer spending spree. Diaz is an out and out striker who had a very good season at Lyon three years ago but is simply not good enough for Real Madrid where the goals return has been well below average. He has rejected loans to several clubs already inclding West Brom and Brighton - West Ham may offer solution but commiting to an obligation to buy may not be wise.
Marcus Forss (S) Brentford Striker being considered by Borussia Dortmund and West Ham. New contract so he can be forgotten.
Olivier Giroud (S) Numerous clubs have an interest but will stay at Chelsea until the summer.
Moussa Marega (S) seen by West Ham as a cheap option able to sign on a Pre-Contract in January. But perhaps no longer first choice.}

Danny Ings injured his knee on debut and looks to be out for several weeks.

You literally cannot write it.

TKHammer

1.) 23 Jan 2023 17:23:26
I mean come on! It's not as if anyone on the planet could've foreseen an injury to Danny Ings before spending £15M quid on him.

Oh wait. Yes. Yes they could've. EVERYONE knew this was going to happen. I'm surprised he lasted 15 flippin' minutes!

Great excuse for them though now when we're relegated. It'll be "Oh well we signed new players but injuries blah blah blah," conveniently ignoring the fact we've been mostly pony for well over a year now! And THAT me old china's is down 100% to the manager.

2.) 23 Jan 2023 18:16:27
15 damn minutes and he got a knee injury. I don't believe a word of it. More like he got injured in training

3.) 23 Jan 2023 19:12:47
Are those chuckles. Can hear from Villa Park?

4.) 23 Jan 2023 22:00:44
Yes, they're laughing at Sullivan shuffling around with his pants down around his ankles.

04 Jan 2023 22:46:15
I don't know if anyone managed to watch a stream, but Kehrer had arguably one of the worst player performances I've ever seen from anyone in a West Ham shirt.

He gave the ball away countless times, missed the ball, kicked the ball out of play on numerous occasions and got dispossessed more times than I can remember. I know he's not a bad player, but his performance today was a horror show.

Good penalty and well taken goal by Scamacca, but lord almighty we are so far off the pace it's incredible.

TKHammer

1.) 05 Jan 2023 08:43:53
I recommend everyone reads Antony Martin’s article on Hammers News regarding Moyes’ tactical ability

2.) 05 Jan 2023 12:32:59
Or lack thereof LOL let's face it everybody, he isn;t going anywhere so we will just have to put up with the crap selections and tactics all the time. I wouldn't give hima penny in the TRANSFER window cause he is clueless but hey, I'm about done with it all now, enough is enough. Moyes sympathizers will be smiling for now, but let's see how they feel once we are relegated

3.) 05 Jan 2023 16:34:50
If we are it will devastating financially. All these big names will be gone, rice will be the first out the door. And maybe that's what is needed to force us to start fresh.

4.) 05 Jan 2023 17:50:29
Thoroughly agree about Kehrer, TK. I couldn’t believe how poor he was. Almost every time he had the ball, things went wrong.

Having said that, far too frequently his team mates couldn’t find a decent pass either.

There were one, or too, glimmers of light - Paqueta had his bast game, looked both invested and involved, and scored, what I hope will be his first of many goals.

Scamacca’s goal was excellent.

5.) 05 Jan 2023 22:38:57
First time in an age that the ball goes to Scammaca's feet and he scores. Shame it was a Leeds player that provided the pass though.

15 Dec 2021 22:24:54
So many issues at the moment

Antonio has completely fallen off - isn't running the channels, isn't holding up the ball, his passing, crossing and the final product is awful. I personally think he needs to be dropped and put Bowen down the middle.

Masuaku cannot be deployed as a left back, he cannot defend, not even remotely. He needs to play as a wing back, if we're playing that formation with a defender behind him. Tonight he gave the ball away/was out of position at least 5 times in dangerous areas.

Soucek has gone missing since the end of last season

A lot needs to be addressed and a few signings in the transfer window please

TKHammer

1.) 16 Dec 2021 06:34:34
Agreed buddy, loss of confidence is there for all to see

22 Jun 2021 10:29:03
I've seen Declan come under fire within the media for being too conservative and not "passing forward"

He is literally under instruction by Southgate to sit in front of the defence and not move or give possession away. We've all seen his driving runs and passing ability throughout the season so we know it's not his fault. If he decides to start passing/ driving forward with the ball, he risk being dropped for not following instructions.

Extremely frustrating to watch.

TKHammer

1.) 22 Jun 2021 19:21:12
Let’s face it, I can only think of 3 players that have come away with any credit in last two games, Pickford, mings and foden ( foden because he was the only one going forward) .

After Scotland game I think Southgate should of been sacked, that was the most boring, negative performance in years and frankly unacceptable, everybody passed it sideways or backwards and mings summed it up in the interview after saying the goal was to get out of the group, that says it all about the mentality of the team.
Fair enough to look at Kane but he has had no service to work from and has been totally isolated, I am with sourness that rice and Phillips are the same player, play one or the other and not both to create 6 defenders.
I think I will be turning off tonight if the first half is similar to the other night.

2.) 23 Jun 2021 10:48:34
Well, at least we got to see 30 mins of the potential that England can play, moving the ball forward, looking confident. What happened in the second half is anyone’s guess, would love to have heard Southgates half time talk, maybe he was worried about going forward!

Next Tuesday will be the start of the games where you have to win ugly, the nitty gritty of not conceding goals and stout defending, a team that’s not scoring but also not conceding, get your cash on 0-0 at full time.
Still not a Southgate fan but maybe the knockout stages will work as fans will accept winning ugly.

26 Apr 2021 13:13:26
I personally think if Antonio is serious about playing for Jamaica, we have to sell him/ let him go as soon as possible. He can barely play a game a week at the moment without his body breaking down. Imagine him going off to a tournament. Fantastic player but his body just won't allow him to play

We need 2 strikers in the summer as an absolute must. I have a feeling Moyes is going to have a clear out with the below being up for sale/ moving on

Lanzini
Anderson (if we can find a buyer)
Fredricks
Yarmolenko (if we can find a buyer)
Balbuena.

TKHammer

1.) 27 Apr 2021 21:42:13
Agree with all on the list, although I’d also lump Antonio in. Hopefully, with Antonio lumped in we could pull back £40m for the 6, plus it’d free up a fair bit on the wage bill.

2.) 28 Apr 2021 22:12:00
Definitely should keep Antonio and bring in another 2 strikers. He won't get injured as much if he's not rushed back and we can manage his game time.

Wouldn't like to be a tired defender and see Antonio coming on! He's bullied defenses all on his own at times.

You could argue that Emerson is a hammer of the year contender, he's been fantastic. Cresswell desperately needs replacing, and Coufals contract situation isn't getting any better so a RB is most definitely needed.

When I saw this news, I thought, Chelmsford is a lucky boy, Christmas has come twice for him!

It’s a shame because he has the ability, but if it frees up funds to get Josh King I’ll be happy overall. We probably still owe Frankfurt £10mil ish in payments, so we’ll only actually be getting 10-15 mil to re-invest in a player.

Shifting Anderson on would be the best business we could do this window, although I’ll doubt anyone will want a winger who doesn’t even make the squad for Porto.

Chelmsford. to say he is "worst forward that ever played for us" you must have an extremely short memory. May I remind you of a few, Bennie McCarthey, Savio, Miaga, Chamakh, Zaza, Calleri. and that's just the few I can remember sitting at my desk. To even suggest that he's the worst we've had is completely unjust and extremely unfair. May I also remind you, he is our top scorer this season. Fair enough a few have come in the Cups, but you can only score against what's in front of you.

I get it Chelms, you want to see a guy throw himself around on the pitch, whether it be fruitless or not, I get it, as a West Ham fan I also love to see players leaving everything on the pitch and covering every blade of grass, but it just isn't his game. He's a technical player which was evident when he banged in that bicycle kick. I'm not saying Haller is without fault, but the criticism you give this guy could almost be seen as a hate crime haha!

Hope you had a good new year - looking forward to more discussions in the second half of the season!

At least the money for Rio was used to build the old Dr Martens stand at Upton Park. Rice's sale will go straight into DGS back pocket.

Dybala yes, Zaha no. Zaha would not start over Kudus or Bowen and would want incredibly high wages.

Dybala would start over Antonio so makes sense.

We also have 2 of the top wingers in the league. Why would we even entertain signing him?

Surely a striker, right back and centre backs are the main focus?

I think it's more to do with Areolas wages than his fee. He's from PSG remember.

They throw money at players for fun. If I had to guess i'd say he's on 100k+ at PSG as he was their number 1 before Navas/Donarumma turned up

All sorts of names flying around at the moment. I just hope we get something over the line to help Michy out.
