With all this talk of goalkeepers what is the latest on our 'one for future' Jonathan Trott?

And also our other promising youngsters?

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 15 Jan 2020 16:23:37
Hiya Syd assume you mean Nathan Trott - Jonathan is a cricketer.

Nathan currently at Wimbledon on a season long loan he's made 22 appearances out of 25 games Wimbldon have played in Div 1
Wimbledon are currently 1 place above the Relegation places and Nathan has kept 3 clean sheets.

I watched Nathan a few times in the U23S and was impressed with his athleticism and shot stopping

Personally thought he would have done better than Roberto but probably not as good as Martin still he's getting plenty of experience at Wimbledon.

2.) 15 Jan 2020 23:10:19
Hes pretty small but BANKS wasnt a big guy its about reactions and flexabiity but I think its intimidating for opposition if GK is tall. COYI.

3.) 16 Jan 2020 09:06:17
David De Gea was also too small when he came to the PL, time will tell for Nathan, but he certainly has ability, and is getting valuable time at Wimbledon (a struggling club will give him plenty of action in the penalty area to prove himself and improve) . It may be another loan next season, but let's see how he develops.
We have Randy back now as backup for Fab. Good call IMO, just need to move Roberto out now.
Ed's (or anyone else), what do the Wimbledon fans think of Nathan this season?

13 Feb 2019 20:14:48
Is there a list of all the players we have out on loan?

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 13 Feb 2019 23:33:23
Wikipedia?

2.) 15 Feb 2019 10:49:16
Browne
Martinez
Samuelson
Cullen

Hugill

Off the top of my head.

Please feel free to add others, anyone.

Neufville
Afolayan.

I think Cantwell also played at centre forward once or twice. They were nearly all drinkers. In those days there was a tunnel that allowed you to move between the then North and South terraces behind the two goals. This tunnel ran under the main stand and passed the dressing rooms. And outside the West Ham dressing room used to be a stack of beer crates. Maybe I am wrong but I also think I recall the odd player returning to the pitch after half time still smoking and then throw their dog end on the pitch.

Ironmike,
You mention Billy Bonds catching a bus. I remember also catching a bus at Ilford Broadway to go to Upton Park in the mid-fifties and Johny Dick got on the same bus with a holdall carrying his kit just like any other Saturday afternoon footballer. even though he was an international player (albeit just one cap for Scotland). I think it must have been the season before Vic Keeble joined us.

Also on the great Bobby Moore, I always wonder how his career would have developed if Duncan Edwards hadn't died in the Munich air crash.

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 10 Feb 2019 15:45:01
Bloody hell Syd, we’re from the same era, I remember as about a 14 year old which would be 1958/ 59 travelling home on the District Line with an Uncle and cousin that had taken me to the game and big John Bond was in the train with his big hold-all and the WH shirt visible as it was not zipped up, think he wanted people to see it🤣🤣 he got off at Barking station, so assume he lived in Barking then? Saw him score a goal against Swansea from a free kick just inside our half, he was another hero of mine, also Malcolm Allison another no nonsense CH who was infamous for his Fedora hat and managed Man City, bags of charisma, quite a ladies man big Malc👍⚒⚒⚒😊.

2.) 10 Feb 2019 16:48:14
Must be link, didn't bond also go on to manage man city?

3.) 10 Feb 2019 21:52:40
Jason, yes he did manage Man C, at WH he had the nickname of “Muffin” after the puppet character Muffin the Mule, nicknamed because of his strong kicking ability! Bonds was another colourful character like Malcolm Allison. Bond’s son Kevin teamed up with Redknapp at several clubs as his assitant.

4.) 11 Feb 2019 08:50:28
Bond later managed at Norwich and Allison at City IRONMIKE.

It is reported that the East Stand will be named after Billy Bonds.

For my money Billy is the greatest West Ham TEAM player of my lifetime.

I am a great admirer of Bobby Moore who was undoubtedly a world class player and deserves all the accolades showered on him. However he was a big game player and I think Billy was the greatest club player week in week out over his long career.

So for me Billy Bonds is the greatest West Ham player of my lifetime?

Anybody agree?

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 09 Feb 2019 14:26:31
IN my view you are 100% correct. IRONMIKE.

2.) 09 Feb 2019 14:56:15
Syd can’t disagree with you that Billy played like us supporters wanted to see. Over the years it is difficult to say who was the best. Sir trev for me was excellent, Jonny sissons was a personal favourite growing up. But so glad that BB is getting this honour. I think all us hammers will have a personal favourite but all will agree long over due this accolade for Bonzo.

3.) 09 Feb 2019 18:20:27
Di canio for me.

4.) 09 Feb 2019 21:36:32
Alan Devonshire for me! A magician in his time.

5.) 09 Feb 2019 21:53:01
Or how about Frank McAvennie!

Imagine how many he would of scored if he was sober, got to be up there just because of that.
I struggle to walk in straight line when pissed so for him to run, dribble and shot puts him there or thereabouts.

6.) 10 Feb 2019 04:28:44
I understand why our younger members vote for Macavennie or Di Canio the great entertainer, the older ones must understand if you were not in the Bonds era , it is difficult to fathom his aura out Let me explain the pitches are now of good quality year round, which allows the real footballers to shine, back then the Boleyn as most other grounds post November was a mud bath save the wing area, , , so the call on stamina was. much greater, I recall one game against Stoke I think 0/ 0 ten minutes to play we had a few lightweights In the team, Paul Brush on the deck says i'm eexhausted Bonds by the touchline picks him up by the shirt collar, Your a F+++++g disgrace, get up, and your training with me this week boy, he shoves brush into the stoke box , Bonds go’s Forward creates mayhem in the box, ball runs free hits brush on his backside robson is there we score Lord what a weeks ttrainiing Brush had with Bonds DO WE have anybody like that now of course not, After Training Bonds got a bus home from outside the ground eventually he bought a car. IRONMIKE.

7.) 10 Feb 2019 08:14:01
Mike, I am with you on B. B. every step of the way, I am an older poster as I have stated previously (74) not the oldest on here maybe, but was a regular at home games from when I first started work earning money in 1959/ 60. BB was a giant to have in your side, every game, he gave everything in every game 100%, those that are to young cannot appreciate what we saw, week in week out, not skilful, but the ferocity of his game and enthusiasm was electricity for the crowd, who adored him! He wasn’t a “look at me” player, so modest and unassuming, but expected the same effort from everybody, a true leader to have in the trenches with you, you wouldn’t want Bill steaming towards you as an opposing forward I can tell you 🤣👍⚒⚒.

8.) 10 Feb 2019 09:55:31
CANNOT agree with you more. IRONMIKE.

9.) 10 Feb 2019 14:16:21
I went to my first game in 1985 and was able to catch the end of his career. Shame never saw him in his prime but still magnificant then.
I did live Devonshire and DiCanio later on, Stewart and Dicks very much in that die for the shirt attitude.

10.) 10 Feb 2019 17:20:18
George"bruno" parris for me lol.

11.) 10 Feb 2019 17:22:59
Dicks di canio slater devonshire bonds moore parkes mcavennie cottee miklosko all greats for whufc.

12.) 12 Feb 2019 18:12:20
I used to love the bald assassin “Pop Robson” he was basically a poor mans Alan Shearer. (104 goals for the IRONs) but cost about 90 grand on old money.

Thanks Merceri and also for correcting my memory.

What about the other promising youngsters.

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 17 Jan 2020 15:44:16
Syd just as we were talking about Trott stats out today show he has stopped 93 shots in the first half of the season that's the best in all 4 divisions so the future looks good

He's back at the end of the season.

26 Dec 2019 11:28:46
Can someone please give me an update on our promising young players out on loan, to include Jonathan Trott.

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 26 Dec 2019 14:37:58
Assume youean Nathan Trott Syd he starts today at Wimbledon Both Diangana WBA and Cullen at Charlton both out injured at mom not sure on any other loanees.

27 Feb 2019 18:36:51
I am full of admiration for Robert Snodgrass as to the way he has established himself this season however I wonder if with the players we will have available, the youngsters coming through and maybe new players that at the end the season we should cash in on his value and let him move on.

Any views?

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 27 Feb 2019 19:08:45
Wow that’s some changes tonight
Where is arnoutivic
Johnson at left back for debut against city
Obiang starting
And Carol starts up front
It could be a master stroke by Pellegrini or it
could be a nightmare.

2.) 27 Feb 2019 20:07:05
Not a team you want to be making your debut against.

3.) 27 Feb 2019 23:55:47
Johnson did well. Better than arthur. One for the future maybe.

4.) 28 Feb 2019 07:19:06
Syd, I am a Snodgrass fan as well, had loads of criticism past and present, he is a grafter and always trying to be available, lovely left foot at times, give me Snoddy every game In place of at least 4 players I could name, also Antonio, not the prettiest to watch but put himself about and chases like Snoddy, not like the other 4 players I have in mind, we might as well start with less numbers than start with those! To bloody comfortable on huge contracts sitting on the sick note bench! Should take a leaf from Lanzini’s book and attitude. Massive performance last night against arguably the best in the Premiership, well done lads. ⚒⚒⚒.

5.) 28 Feb 2019 09:28:10
Why do they have these biased football pundits on MOTD and other channels that we have to suffer! What utter s—t was Wright talking about calling Anderson’s challenge clumsy, then his puppet Shearer next to him agreeing? The bloody ref was a homer again, disgraceful award of a penalty! Bernard clearly launched himself to the ground as soon as he felt a touch, I have long learned not to blame the diver, but the Ref’s need to get a grip on this clear overreactions to any form of contact! Think the Ref’s love the attention when on TV to much, utter disgrace although my opinion can also be biased, but that was never a penalty at either end!

15 Feb 2019 18:33:57
Thanks to this that responded by advising of players we have out on loan.

Of these which have a future with us and which should be sold?

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 16 Feb 2019 11:57:58
Syd, I think that of the ten I listed on the other page, only Browne (definitely) and possibly Fernandes (as midfield cover) are of any real interest to the club.

21 Jan 2019 22:21:17
Warrington I understand the point you are making but I stick to my point that quality is better than quantity. With so many bids and supposed interest being posted it becomes a bit of a nonsense to actually get enthusiastic about any of them and sort the realistic from the dross.

I would also say that some of the posts in the past, as the one you refer to, are surely confidential info and can harm our wonderful club if posted. I recall Martin O'Neill pulling out of being our manager a few years ago because the info was prematurely in the press. And please no replies about you not wanting O'Neill as my point is one of confidentiality not suitability.

Syd Puddefoot

1.) 22 Jan 2019 08:06:08
Morning Syd

Fair point but the O Neil situation was a little different, I think we had a manager already ( was it Grant? ) and would imagine he thought it us was unprofessional and not fair on the current manager at the time which rightly so, Bilic had gone and we had a vacancy. but agreed we should be airing our dirty washing behind close doors and not in public.

Concerning the point of fruitless speculation in posting with transfers, if we were to wait until a an incoming player has a medical booked and all he has to do is pass and sign in my opinion this site would come to a halt,

I personally love the speculation and admittedly sometimes have to go to Wiki to find out who a player is were after, that's the beauty of speculation, but take your point.

We have a fantastic group with us all on here, the majority of us do not know each other but we come together for a common cause, that's why its such a shame Mike and Ed 002 have had a slight disagreement as it was a fantastic balance, Mike would say have a little more license in his reporting where as Ed 002 would be the straight man so to speak ( no disrespect Ed 002) and report more to the factual point, I personally think it was perfect for on here, but there you go

Cheers Syd have a good day.

2.) 22 Jan 2019 09:55:19
spot on warrrington, liked the balance. Sometimes Ironmike got a scoop and when he was off the ball Ed002 (who I assume is an agent given his knowledge) stepped in. Its a shame Ironmike has gone really.

3.) 22 Jan 2019 11:02:01
Ed002 is actually David Gold :) well perhaps not but would be interesting to know what people do but I guess might be hard in some cases for them to say.

4.) 22 Jan 2019 18:37:44
To me, Warrington has been the voice of reason on this matter. Ironmike posts and speculation didn’t always hear fruit it always hold water, but were they interesting and give us something to think about, enthuse about and sometimes dream about? 😂😂.

I can only speak for me and made what is a absolute dire time of my life (between seasons end and a new seasons beginning) quite tolerable. I don’t like to not speak football, not speculate about who we may and may not sign, not share and read opinions on what we have heard and who we wish we could buy or sell.

The latest soap opera / minor storm was started by two people with differing points of view and in “my opinion” a poorly crafted message which seemed both slight venomous and antagonistic. HOWEVER, I believe although Ironmike may not be posting, he still reads the posts (perhaps more out of curiosity than need) .
We could also be reading more into this than there is. Maybe Mikes on his hols somewhere warm while we freeze over here. 😂😂

Ironmike - come back and start posting (for the benefit of us saddos who read this site everyday) . We already know that all of your posts don’t necessarily hold water and those that do are sometimes held in. A leaking bucket. We also know that sometime you might get some of your rumours off of Twitter, but even your looking on Twitter is a service to us readers because some of us don’t have the time to trawl twitter and in my case, I don’t even go onto twitter.

5.) 22 Jan 2019 19:04:31
Well said coyi.

You guys aren't real. 'Get the deal done'. 'Get out your cheque book'. 'Don't let it drag on'. Just like Snodgrass, Fonte, Ayew, Hart, et al. - is that how to do it? No take our time and buy the right player at the right price or not at all. And let the surplus players go when we get a fair price.

Warrrington, I agree with all you say. You have summed up the situation well.

And like you I often have to go to Wiki to find out who is being talked about but so often find that the so called target fades from our sights almost immediately and I wonder why the info came from and why it was posted in the first place. Also I also give more credence to posts by the Eds.

I prefer the site with input from various fans and without it be dominated by one poster.

Well I am happy with the events of the last few months:
1 We are now mid table and should avoid the drop
2 We have an excellent manager
3 He has an experienced assistant in Stuart Pearce
4 We have sold on Ayew and Sakho
5 We have unearthed Declan Rice
6 The manager called back young loan player. These and other youngsters have been given a run and it has established that none of them are currently Premier League quality at this moment.
7 Instead of hanging onto them some have gone back on loan. I assume to be sold or returned to the fold for next season
8 Money has not been wasted on more of the same as the last few windows.
9 A few of the senior players who were not contributing are now getting some form back.
10 If what we read is correct Moyes is bringing discipline back to the club and with a higher level ion fitness.
11 Mpyes has sorted out the goalkeeping situation with Adrian rightfully back and I assume we will not have Hart next season.
12 Fonte is back from injury so we have more options at the back and more cover.

So as I say I am a contented hammer and look forward to a much better season in 18/ 19.

I agree with Ed002.

Our fans are so fickle. A player joins us and the fanfares trumpet. Then you turn against them and players like Noble, Carroll, Ayew, Hart, Fonte, Snodgrass, Kouyate and more become deadwood.

Few of you have anything sensible to say and just spout nonsense.

If you are genuine supporters then do some genuine supporting!

It's not your money to spend so let those whose it is make the decisions.

If we bought on the advise of we have posted we would be bankrupt.
