We seriously need to be looking at this Calvin Bassey. He's perfect for us .

Dabber Iron

1.) 19 May 2022 07:36:57
Dabbed, he looked terrific last night I agree. But how can we be looking at every player that looks the part?
Rangers and Celtic are guaranteed Euro Football every season, unless they’re playing against each other, the rest of the season are practically Pub games aren’t they?
⚒⚒⚒⚒

2.) 19 May 2022 17:34:29
You’re right Chelmsford, he won’t be playing at that standard every week but he kept Knauff quiet and didn’t put a foot wrong all night. Young, strong, fast and left footed, I’d much rather look at him than some of the unknown continental centre halves. He looks made for the Prem

3.) 23 May 2022 00:45:46
I dnot think BASSEY is for us I thought he was at fault for FRANKFURTS goal he could have done a lot better so not for me.

14 Aug 2020 16:16:26
All, I know I'm going to get a fair bit of stick for this post but I think if Chelsea offer us the right combination of players for Declan Rice we should consider it. I know people on here think Dec is worth £120 mil but in reality he is only worth what somebody is likely to pay. I put that amount at £80 mil given a fair wind. Therefore I would want from Chelsea £80 m - £90 mil worth of players in return. Not only that I'd want young hungry players, not Batashuyi or Barclay. Give us Tammy Abraham, Tomorii and Bakayoko plus 12 month loan of Ethan Amoadu and you might have a deal.

Dabber Iron

1.) 14 Aug 2020 19:06:02
Have you thought about the wages bill? Moyse would need to have a successful clearout to afford that lot.

2.) 14 Aug 2020 20:55:05
Markro, true buddy but then there would be a saving on transfer and agents fees . we’d also still need to move on players irrespective. For me the message it sends to so called big guns is don’t think you can tempt us with your s**t in order to get your hands on our quality. They’re disrespectful and patronising!

3.) 15 Aug 2020 14:40:53
I prefer a deal of tammy, loftus cheek, gilmour, & ampadu. That would be just under 200k a week in wages. So with ajeti gone and if we can move yarmo, plus Rice's wages off the book we'd be well in the clear and have a young core to build around.

4.) 15 Aug 2020 19:31:51
Swap deals don't work out that often now swapping 3-4 players is almost unfathomable too many things to go wrong that would ruin/ stop a deal being brokered.

5.) 19 Aug 2020 13:18:39
Hi gents. If we lose Rice to Chelsea I don’t see the point in swapping for a multitude of players to be honest. Bakayoko had his chance and hasn’t impressed at Chelsea at all, Tammy Abraham I like, Tomori is a centre back and hasn’t featured much lately.
I don’t see how we can let a CM like Rice leave and replace him with one CM player Like Bakayoko who isn’t half the player he is, a centre back and a striker.
With Noble I’m tired legs, he really (in my opinion) has one full season left with us: if he retires and Rice is gone, I believe we would get overrun in midfield. If Chelsea want Rice, if want to money not players. If we got £80m we could buy a very decent DM player and perhaps one full back . 😁😁😁.

{Ed002's Note - Bakayoko is a very good player indeed but is not being offered to West Ham and is heading elsewhere. Abraham would be an interesting option as he is asking for more money than Chelsea are prepared to offer in a new contract at this time. Tomori would be a very good option but there have been approaches from other sides.}

25 Jul 2018 22:34:09
Fellow Hammers, I'd be interested to hear what your collective views are on Yaya Toure. For me I'd offer him a contract of 1 possibly 2 years. At peak he was quality, now his legs have gone some he's likely to be happy to sit in and play the DM role. Not only that whilst were building for the future the newbies could learn a shedload about the PL from him .

1.) 25 Jul 2018 23:25:12
Not for me, Dabba. Too many candles on his cake. 😉.

2.) 26 Jul 2018 00:20:43
Mike the other reason i'd sell ANTONIO is we could ask for €23-25million and with the sales of kouyate and obiang i know we need two players minimum there would be enough money to buy RAFINHA and i know Barcelona want a sale but buy him for €30-35 million and there's the money for a reasonable first instalment to keep them happy he's very good and would slot in nicely with jack the only downside is they are both left footed but we can live with that . COYI.

3.) 26 Jul 2018 06:41:56
The next player leaving is sam byram to notts forest not sure if loan or permanent.

4.) 26 Jul 2018 08:36:13
Hi Dabber, I have to agree with Marko on this one, although there is no doubting that he is an experienced footballer and more importantly a winner I feel we would be moving in the wrong direction with him, a very good point about giving his experience throughout the club but it would be an expensive venture as I would imagine he would want in excess of 100k per week. I remember when Big Scam brought in Song, IMO what a liabilty he was.

5.) 26 Jul 2018 09:00:37
Guys with Yaya Toure he brings a wealth of experience of Europe and champions league . Maybe a pay as you play contract for a year and see how it goes.

IMO if tight on wages I’d rather use the money on younger players ⚒.

6.) 26 Jul 2018 09:03:35
"too many candles on his cake" that is brilliant in so many ways.

7.) 26 Jul 2018 10:10:04
WH4ever - nice to be appreciated.

8.) 26 Jul 2018 10:37:25
WH up till now have never showed interest in Yaya despite media comments I would be surprised if we went down that road. IRONMIKE.

9.) 26 Jul 2018 11:43:43
To conclude: that’s a Nono Toure from me.

10.) 26 Jul 2018 11:59:46
That one was not as good Markro, c'mon now we are all expecting high quality.

11.) 26 Jul 2018 12:22:19
With Toure its seems some are saying his coming some are saying his not its up and down really for YOYO Toure.

12.) 26 Jul 2018 15:35:06
Blimey! The pun epidemic has started.

Morning everyone on this seasons Eve!
I can't help thinking that the lack of funds has made our transfer policy much more measured this time rather than scatter gun and I much prefer it. There is feeling that all signings have to be right, no mistakes and I like that. Links to a lot of names still but a lot of that is lazy journalism. It also seems to me that time might be being taken to obtain/ release funds from borrowing. Moyes is a canny Scot and I'm sure he'll spend the money wisely. I do however think there are discussions afoot still about DR to Chelsea and could see this happening at around the 60-70m. I love Dec but that sort of money in the right hands can buy some very good players and we are short of at least 4 imo.

1.) 11 Sep 2020 14:32:50
And who knows Anderson, Lanzini and Haller could have a good season which would make a hell of a difference, but a couple of additions wouldn’t go a miss as we do need a strong squad and not just a strong 11, there’s still time for things to happen.

2.) 11 Sep 2020 20:43:53
Lanzini is a shadow of the player before he got injured Anderson May surprise a few people if he is moved inside to play of haller when he has played out on the wing his crossing has been poor and is forced to come inside against 2/ 3 players.

3.) 12 Sep 2020 09:06:41
Stevie, yes if Haller/ Anderson were anywhere near as good as their transfer fees suggest they should be, we would have a forward line up that would be as good as any club, plus Ant / Bowen/ Soucek etc, we could end in top 8?

But my instinct tells me Haller/ Anderson last season were so disinterested so why would it change this season, I would love to be proved wrong, we could be flying if so!

Lanzini is a great shame, what an influence he used to be before his injury, don’t think he’ll ever be the same, a reason I don’t like us having players that are international’s, just hope Rice doesn’t end up with a serious or even minor injury on International duty! ⚒⚒⚒.

4.) 12 Sep 2020 11:23:14
Hi Chelmsford, It would pay Anderson and Haller to start being very interested and start putting in the performances as that’s the only way they are going to get a move (if that’s what they want), as we’ve seen in this window no one wants them because of their poor performances last season.

5.) 12 Sep 2020 16:16:34
I would like to see Anderson at 10. He has quick feet and a quick brain and I think Haller would anticipate what he is going to do, so they would work well together.

Equally importantly, it would remove him having to constantly track back to cover Cresswell’s terrible positioning. That’s a major reason he was so ineffective last season - he spent far too much time at the wrong end of the pitch bailing Cresswell out.

6.) 12 Sep 2020 18:08:36
Markro good to see we are on the same page my thinking I’d go with snodgrass of the left in front of Cressie he can tackle and put in a good cross and have the natural width which create more space for the like of haller Antonio or Anderson.

7.) 12 Sep 2020 20:01:40
The midfield and attack we ended with looks balanced.

8.) 12 Sep 2020 22:32:13
Spot on markro ANDERSON is a luxery footballer go and let him play behind the front men and tell him to stay in the opponents half unless he loses the ball then win it back otherwise be where you can hurt our opponents. COYI.

14 Aug 2020 16:27:58
Hi Ed02, hope you are keeping well. Would the below be a million miles away in terms of value:

Abraham - £40m
Tamori - £25m
Bakayoko - £20m.

Dabber Iron

{Ed002's Note - This is the West Ham page, you need the Chelsea page.}

1.) 14 Aug 2020 17:40:22
Sorry Ed, the questions in reply to a post I’d written about Declan Rice and potential swap deals. I mustn’t have pressed enter when submitting the post .

{Ed002's Note - No problem Dabber Iron - it seemed a very strange post. So to answer this in context for you, I am not sure Chelsea has spoken about a price for Abraham but if an offer were made and the player were keen to move, Chelsea has a history of not standing in the way of players - it seems reasonable. Tomori is a player who Chelsea want to keep but would be open to a loan to get experience. There is interest from Rennes. Bakayoko is available after Monaco didn't take up their option to buy - he is available for sale with PSG having him somewhere down their list as a cheaper option to the alternatives. Player wants a return to Milan but will be tough to agree a fee with Chelsea - they are pushing for a loan with an option to buy and Chelsea want to sell but might accept a loan with an obligation to but. £20M would certainly do it and he is a way, way netter player than the Chelsea fans understand - would be a great buy.}

2.) 14 Aug 2020 17:45:02
Hi Ed02, sorry to bother you again, the above question was related to the post I posted on rumours . I’m getting my rumours and banter mixed up, Age 😉!

{Ed002's Note - Think of Rumours as Bollocks Dapper. And think of Banter as Complete Bollocks. Life becomes a lot easier.}

3.) 14 Aug 2020 21:02:09
Thanks very much Ed, much appreciated. I agree Bakayoko is a great player and people forget he’s only 25 I believe . For me if Moyes wants to rebuild releasing Rice for money and/ or players is possibly the only realistic option open to him, money doesn’t grow on trees and we don’t seem to have many takers for the likes of Andersen and Lanzini. Thanks again for the info.

{Ed002's Note - You are right here but West Ham want to keep DR and need to look at getting money from the like of Andersen and perhaps at more modest spending.}

4.) 14 Aug 2020 22:47:44
Cheers Ed02, appreciate the info and discussion.

I always like to take a positive glass half full take on life and in relation to our current situation and the transfer window I'm no different. At least at the wrong end of the table we've got something to play for each game rather than meandering to 45 points playing out draws that suit both teams. The transfer window was very good for us. We released the disastrous Roberto, secured back up to Fab, brought in a goal scoring young DM and a very exciting young british goal scoring attacking midfielder. I'm also in the pro-Haller corner. This lad was exceptional in Germany last year and will be again. Strikers thrive on confidence and support. Once something happens for him, maybe a couple of goals today against Brighton, he'll be a different player! Add to that goal support from Bowen, Fornals, Souchek, Antonio then we should be ok. Noble needs to be an impact player, Anderson needs to learn how to shoot and somebody needs to book a taxi for Lanzini, Wilshere and Sanches. Defensively Jeremy looks a prospect and can cover Fredericks, Cresswell needs replacing in the Summer and a couple of new centre halves will need bringing in. I like Diop, he will learn to eradicate mistakes in time but Balbuena isn't good enough and Ogbonna is slowing down. I'm going to say it now we won't go down, we will be 3-5 points clear of relegation but it will be a rollercoaster ride to get there! COYI.

Dabber Iron

1.) 01 Feb 2020 16:49:37
Like your attitude but watching the second half today and the deplorable defending I can only see relegation now.

Feel compelled to say this but this site has become as " flat as a witches tit " since Ironmike has left. Mike come back. Who cares if your snippets are anything between 0 - 100 % true . it was interesting to read them either way!

Dabber Iron

1.) 13 Mar 2019 13:10:44

2.) 13 Mar 2019 14:10:00
Hopefully he's back in the summer much more accurate and detailed than general news.

3.) 13 Mar 2019 17:10:24
The place is better with him in it.

4.) 14 Mar 2019 07:03:06
I was thinking the same guys, we need his info because at the end of the day all football chat for every club is rumour and speculation and matter what anyone says about any comment that’s written on here, any player is possible, some more than others but not until the paper is signed but as I said that is every club so wether u do get your hopes up over some rumours/ comments so what, it’s part of being a football fan. This site gives me something to discuss with my mates on a Sunday having a beer, and they the same from their respective sites. It’s part of football. This site for me is far better with mike posting on it. What annoys me the most is that other people slag him off for what he writes, but hey ho don’t right anything when he doesn’t, so that says a lot. Anyway that’s my 50p worth chucked in. Come back mike and COYI.
Hope you all well gents.

5.) 14 Mar 2019 21:57:46
That’s what I don’t understand about all the grief, it’s a RUMOURS site. The rumour doesn’t always have to be right and if I hear something different to someone who may be linked to the club, player, agent, or God himself, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to state the rumour I heard. Seems people get taken to task because a rumour is tenuous or someone heard the opposite. If it was called Westham facts I would understand it but it’s not.

6.) 15 Mar 2019 09:58:22
Like most on here, I enjoy the speculation, the “wouldn’t that be fantastic if it could happen, ” stuff, as well as stories/ reports more grounded in what is more likely.

I want the club to be better and more successful, so I’m happy to read about those possibilities.

Don’t let my dreams fade and die! 😏.

7.) 15 Mar 2019 12:17:48
There you go Mike a fair bit if support for you mate. I'm sure you still visit this site so just come back and tell us what you hear. Armistice time all round I'd say.

8.) 15 Mar 2019 13:02:44

We should seriously be considering Kagawe . he is running this match and would be a great replacement for Lanzini

Dabber Iron

1.) 02 Jul 2018 20:45:50

2.) 02 Jul 2018 22:02:26

3.) 04 Jul 2018 11:03:50
How true is it Mike we are close to landing inglese from napoli on loan?

Bideford, totally agree that youth is the way forward but nobody wants to buy the 2 attacking forwards that are surplus to requirement and expensive on the payroll, Lanzini and Andersen, we can't shift them. We all know how desperate we are for quality at the back as does the rest of the footballing world . Rico Henry won't come cheap neither will Tarkowski, Stones or the Japanese lad from Bologna. We need at least 3 more defenders and have to sell to buy. The problem is you can only sell what people are prepared to buy and at the moment those players are Diagana, Rice or Diop. My original response to Bonzo was about judging us negatively now when there is still 4 weeks of the transfer window left. He was right though we need defenders but unfortunately selling Diagana was one of the only ways those purchases could be made.

Bonzo53, and I've supported West Ham for 40 years . I also run my own business though therefore can empathise with dgs’ situation. Its bad enough watching something that cost you millions stroll around a football pitch being so ineffective that nobody wants to buy him (Andersen) but when the sale of crotchless knickers and rubber dolls fall through the floor as well you know you're in big trouble! i'm no fan of theirs but constant negativity from fans and players, in my oppinion Noble was totally wrong in his public statement, it should have been a quiet word, is not going to make them sell . They will just do what they do dig their heels in and make decisions that spite the fans because they can .

Change the record with your negative clap trap! Ed02 has said so many times on here money is tight and doesn’t grow on trees . there are 4 weeks until the end of the transfer window so time to buy and more importantly move players on. Owning a business is tough at the best of times but throw a virus into the mix .

We are loaning Anderson out because A) His wages are expensive for somebody who is warming the bench B) Porto might just get him sparking again because we can’t C) Freeing up his wages and squad number enables us to take in somebody, probably now from the Championship, who is cheaper to pay and more benefit to the balance of the overall squad. If Anderson leaves and Porto pay his wages for a season it means there is potentially a place for Benrahma . who would you prefer?
