This is a question for IRONMIKE as it relates to something he has mentioned in the past.
Are West Ham still attempting to implement a new contract structure in which base wage is lower and performance/ appearance bonuses are there to bump it up as they do at a few sides in Europe? I remember you mentioned this when discussing Rice at some point.
If so, do people believe this will help or hinder us in pushing the club forward?
Thank you.

Hard to say, IF the teams doing well as a whole WAGES will look to increase all the way round, and obviously the reverse is true, so you takes your choice on a 360 perspective. Some players will go for it others won’t IRONMIKE.

Thanks for answering.
It’s just a shame teams can’t negotiate a new contract when players aren’t performing but are sometimes held to ransom when a player goes on a decent run. Therein lies the real big problem when chasing the elite. Wages rise considerably whilst in a good patch but then a year or two can end you if you aren’t sensible.

I believe many of our fans would have been excited with some of Fulham’s acquisitions because they are rated highly or have potential or play for decent clubs in Europe. Just the step up to the prem is difficult. They bought far too many players not used to the league and that’s what caused the issue for me. Buying a couple of players is fine but 5 or 6 that don’t know the league is a joke.

I’d like to know where this opinion and knowledge comes from? We all pick out facts, statements and opinion to fit the agenda that suits us most but I find it strange it’s done with such regularity when it comes to football players.
And this isn’t a dig at you Irontodd. We all do it. I think it’s wise to take a punt on a youngster but when we need a midfield more than anything it would be better to sign him alongside someone with experience in the league. Hayden may not set the world alight but a season or three with him will allow any younger players to come through at leisure and develop naturally.

I find it strange that some shoot down the likes of Hayden, who is English and has experience in the league, but get excited over some French lad we’ve never seen play and hasn’t had experience of the Prem.
One reason Fulham struggles last season even after spending was that they didn’t buy many players with Prem experience. Can we afford to have players get used to the league every year?
Give me Hayden all day long. Coaches are there to improve players and Pellegrini will do so.

I imagine any deal would have to be agreeable to Barcelona, Everton, the player, the player’s agent and the player’s family. So there is a lot to consider and no deal is ever straight forward. It may be that one of the relevant parties are on holiday. If I was Gomes I’d be on the beach with my phone in the safe. The window isn’t even open yet is it? Perhaps Everton are very interested but are in no rush.

Has their been any confirmation that we bid £18 million? No. It’s just a rumour same as The Sun story is a rumour and same as everything is a rumour until it’s confirmed by the club or a reliable source linked with the club, player or football in general. We cannot judge the workings of our club based on senseless rumour, especially where it concerns newspapers as they haven’t a clue.
I would take every single rumour with a pinch of salt, it would preserve your sanity.

Unfortunately West Hm aren’t a club with enough prestige that we can base our transfer business on players that desire to play for us. Hugill wanted to play for us and look how that has turned out.
We have to persevere and convince the players to come when they would rather go elsewhere. This isn’t to say they will then down tools and not play. They are professionals. They may decide to move on after a season but as long as we get some decent performances from them and sell for a good price then that’s all we can do at the moment, with our current business model and desire of the manager.

I’m sure any player looking towards China doesn’t care about either training facilitates or Champions League. I cannot imagine a single club in Europe meeting his wage demands. His fee won’t be high but the wages will be massive.
It’s a shame because I think he’s a very talented player. It, he’s in it for the money and we can’t slate him for that. We used his attitude as an advantage when taking him from
Stoke after all. We should avoid being a bitter fan base.

It’s Nantes’ tragedy more than Cardiff’s.

We can all write gossip and rumour.
Not much of what anyone says actually comes true.
If you like I can write loads of stuff now and again.
Perhaps that will fill the instaible need for unsubstantiated news.

The source of the news should tell you everything you need to know.
If something real happens then it will be mentioned in multiple places. I think we all know that the most reliable sources are here (eds and ironmike), Ken Dyer and ExWhuemployee. If none of them have mentioned something then it’s a safe bet it’s not true. Unless 2 or 3 of these break news then it’s a waste of time even thinking about it.
