Morning all, I watched the Bundesliga yesterday and I can't help thinking that if it was completely safe to play then why were the subs sitting 2m apart with face masks on, then as soon as they're on the pitch it's face masks off and up close and personal, that just proved to me that it's not completely safe, what do you think guys.

Stevie, should not even be thought about, forget about stupid rules, they are made to be broken or amended, they are not the law of the land, even they can amended when necessary! Scrap the whole season, for me no Premiership declared winners, no declared relegation!
Forget what has happened in Germany restarting! NO, NO, NO, for me under any circumstances!

{Ed002's Note - There is no option to "scrap the season".}

Sorry Ed there is always an option to scrap the season. If you are talking about economics then that's a different story

Players wages are still the biggest problem. A high percentage of PL players are paid £1 million a year its not as if they can't live on a far less amount of annual pay.

{Ed002's Note - No, there is no option to simply scrap the season. If the games cannot be completed there are options to close it down as has been done in other countries - but it cannot be "scrapped" opr made void. It is nothing to do with player wages.}

Ed I respect your view but what do you believe the difference. Between scrapped and closed down.

To be clear when I say scrapped I mean the season is closed as of March with no promotion or relegation I believe this is a clear and decisive way forward.

{Ed002's Note - There are other matters to be resolved to do with final positions as not all clubs have played the same number of games and European places need to be assigned.}

Again the European situation could be the same teams as this seasons teams go forward to next seasons champions league and UEFA cups., the likelihood is it would be the majority of the same teams anyway

In terms of Final positions this must mainly concern prizemoney this could be the current positions or evan an equal share between all 20 clubs.

Ed I realise that everyone has a different view on the way forward. One thing I will say l that Bill Shankly's quote that Football is more important than life and death may be tested

Meanwhile love to you, your family and friends and all the contributors to this site STAY SAFELY.

{Ed002's Note - None of these are options I am afraid. There will be a discussion tomorrow but there will not be a conclusion. I have a preference to finish now with something like this:

1. St Georges Park (which is near Burton-on-Trent): Keeping social distance, no hugging and kissing etc., play the Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal games as a penalty shoot out (one goal keeper and ten outfield players) - so 11 penalties each and no sudden death - and award the games as win, lose or draw (1-0, 0-1, 0-0). These will be the "final table" standings.
2. Draw a line across; European places on "final table standings.
3. Top two promoted down through the league pyramid.
4. No relegation this season but additional one relegated next two seasons.
5. If Liverpool wish to be awarded the Premier League title then a black ball vote should be conducted - to be successful all other Premier League clubs would have to vote "yes" or abstain. Perhaps before asking Liverpool would get a better reaction if they promised to clean up their act and behave responsibly.

You are correct about Bill Shankley's quote and that is something that has recently caused a stir when quoted - it won't happen again. We also hope everyone on the site stay safe and fine.}

Hi ed I've heard similar suggestions on how to finish the season is this something that is actually being considered?

It does seem the most logical option but I thought they have said no relegation is off the cards?

{Ed002's Note - The Premier League are aware of this and two other options which would see the season finished on a points per game basis - either an average or weighted for home and away.}

Weighted would see us relegated. Any team that goes down on an average or a weighted system will justifiably pursue legal action.

Surely most clubs would have a preference for the system you describe.

I reckon it should go on keep me ups on the 10 outfield players selected by their club and averaged on the 10 players from each club and the bottom three are relegated no enough stupidity we can all throw stabs in the dark at what's going to happen but what will be will be surely there's more to life than football . on second thoughts no it is all about WEST HAM UNITED. COYI.
