If we are looking at a striker for support, what about Charlie Austin?

English, apparently we need a couple of English players to help the quota, he has one year left on his contract so shouldn't cost too much. Only worry would be injuries but I am not sure how bad they are.

I think Southampton are desperate to get rid so even if he did want big wages I am sure that could be negotiated into a deal.

Didn’t one of our co-chairmen make some uncomplimentary comments about his knees before he went to Soton?

I think I see he's available for £8m.

Stevie66, think £8m is well OTT for him👎 He’s fell out with the Manager over being blown out of the pre season tour, so he will be glad to get shot of him as he obviously doesn’t rate him. £2m max for me at 30 as well, half decent as a backup but no more! Might as well have kept Perez opposed to him if it could have been negotiated? Difficult for cheap backups I know, but Austin very injury prone, we don’t need more?

Austin can take Carroll’s permanent place in the medical centre
£80000 too much for him
Mind you bearing in mind the strikers we normally sign I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed along with Sturrige and supplemented by an out of retirement Peter Crouch.

Anyone who signed Johnathon Caleri, Zaza and Hugill is always liable to bring on board crap to play alongside our new boy which should see him heading for the exit next transfer window.
I just can’t be positive as we normally end up with a front line that struggles to get 10 in total either t (rough injured players or players drawing a pension or those who are just bad. Haller will need to have help and quality help is needed,
