On BBC Football text this week, it stated that Wilshere was thinking of retirement, personal reasons were stated, I assume that was before we saw fit to offer him a fat contract for 3 years, I don't think that was a wise thing to say if he did indeed say that, that will only consolidate what some Wilshere doubters will think and I have long been one of the biggest doubters👎 Hope he can prove me wrong this coming season as I know he still has admirers on his past ability, flick ons and short passes do not impress me, they are all fine if added to a player that is prepared to run, chase during a game, not stand around holding their arms out looking around the pitch! I wonder what pre season does for his fitness?

You are right Chelms, this was before he came to us. There is a recent documentary out on Youtube done by Athlete's Stance (who go "behind the scenes" of athletes), and they have one on Jack's story released just two days ago. This is where the BBC have got it, and why they have just said this now.
I believe his retirement consideration was when his son started having fits and seizures, which coincided with a recovery from a broken bone injury.
JW was a risk, and one worth taking at the cost IMO. I like him a lot, and unlike a certain bicycle kicking geordie, i do not question his commitment to getting fit. I think he has just had an ankle problem that has never been fixed properly while at former clubs (which i hope is why our medical team had him out for so long in order to fix it permanently) . He has also been very unlucky with the hairline cracks.
Under MP he could be an unbelievable asset, as i am sure MP will find the best position and balance for him in our midfield. I watched him a lot down here in Bmouth, and he transitions play as well as anyone i have seen by taking the ball on the half turn very well in midfield.

Nick, Lovely part of the country you live in👍 I am happy to concede to your view as you have obviously seen more of him than I have, I just can’t get my head around as to why with with his injury history we imo wasted money and gave him a 3 year contract, when his game record per season is clearly questionable? A years contract with an option yes, but not 3 years!
Whenever I saw B’mouth play on MOTD he was rarely in the team! I am not a purist admirer of Football, I love the players that put a lot of effort in for the majority of the game and imo Wilshere hasn’t been able to do that for years!

I’m optimistic about Wilshere this season. I think he’ll have an important role to play.

A fit Lanzini and Wilshere; Fornals debut in the PL; Anderson in a more secure second season; a new, hungry striker; a developing CB partnership with Diop/ Balbuena; Fabulouski carrying on where he left off.

Chin up everyone. It’s going to be great! 😏.

Markro, love your optimism, just hope you can say to me midway through the season “ I told you so Chelms” when JW is flourishing in the team and actually managing to sustain a number of 90 minutes full playing time and influencing play👍.
