All clubs keep on top of player contracts and Lanzini’s is due to be looked at because of the small amount of time left on it.

I have seen nothing to suggest that Lanzini is unhappy about his contract, but I have seen the odd report saying the club is in the process of, or is about to negotiate a new contract with him.

The question to ask is whether or not we believe we would have finished higher up the table had he been fit all season.

For me the answer is yes.

I would like him to stay at the club.

100% yes we would have
Question is, could he get back to that level?
I think we have a 2 year option still, so no major rush. If he wants a contract, i would give it to him, but i wouldn't increase his pay just yet due to the recurrence risk. i'd give him an extension, but then add pay tiers after reaching X appearances in the year. That way he gets his extension and will get to the next pay bracket he wants (where he would have been without the injury) when he is fully through the injury worry. I'd say that's fair, but football doesn't work fair LOL
I am sure the medical team are all over it, and advising the board on the risk level.

Couldn’t agree more. Let’s hope for the best.
