How many goals? MP has a reputation for attacking sides and lots of goals as evidenced by first season at city. Could let a lot in without a defensive midfielder but with the passing and attack I have seen so far, is it possible to see 60+?

The problem is against a lot of sides now once you lose the ball you don’t get it back. Without a DM in there breaking up play and winning the midfield battle we could be conceding a ton and not scoring many unless we play a style similar to that of Leicester. But even they have a DM in there as everyone knows the importance of it. Other than us, it would seem. If we take the few chances we are likely to have as a result of always chasing possession then we could score 50 plus.

It’s the goals against that I’m concerned with IRONMIKE.

If we don’t bring in a new DM, MP will use Rice, who, as we have all seen, is getting better and better at it.

I can see huge offers for him at the end of this season.

What if Rice is injured or picks up a suspension? It would be madness not reinforce in this area of the pitch. If the manager cannot get the players he wants then an argument can be made to wait until one can be found and not just buy for the sake of buying. But in this area of the pitch this argument doesn’t hold much weight with me. It is essential to reinforce. As good as Rice is we can’t rely on one player.

We relied on Carrol for 2 years and look what happened there.

100% Agree! . first of all for me i think Rice is a better centre half than anyone else we´ve got after all he got runner up hammer of the year playing in that position! . maybe Ogbonna has more experience but not ability wise for me!

I will be amazed if we don´t buy a proven holding midfielder and i genuinely fear for us if we don´t . its all good having these new attacking players which we should also all bear in mind a lot of the new players have no experience in the PML and who´s to know if they´ll be a success. its a tough old league as we know! .

We need to protect that defense, break up play, keep the ball more and pass it better as it´s been a glaring problem the last 2 seasons! . fingers crossed MP pulls something out of the bag!

Hiya buckyohare what's your opinion on NOBLE because i really don't get it people rate him so highly I've been a SUPPORTER of west ham for 40 years and have seen some good footballers in my time and i always watch games somehow when i get home from games and this is my honest opinion when pardew was in charge noble was not bad through to big sam at the end of sams reign NOBLE AND NOLAN were dreadful but sam loved tge pair of them especially nolan from hus bolton days and the last half of tge season just gone noble was awful so was the team against man utd nobles performance was shocking he was miles behind the game i ain't a west ham tinted look what he's done for the club kind of supporter i'm gratefull but they earned very good money that's the least they can do is try but heres my question bucky do you think without noble and a suitable replacement we wouldn't be a better team? COYI.

I think we sometimes forget there is more to football than we realise. West Ham have had a fair few managers in recent years and much has changed in the way of personnel, however Noble remains a constant. Could this many managers be wrong about him? Whilst I think he does some stuff well he is short in some areas and you certainly couldn’t make a case for him to make the side in any of the big teams. This is ultimately what the fans expect. Players that have the ability to push for places in these top sides, however realistic that may be.

Wether it be his qualities as a captain, his personality in the dressing room or something else we cannot place a stat to he clearly offers something important. It isn’t as if the fans love him so much that they would riot and the manager feels he has no option but to play him. He is being picked on merit. Even if we don’t understand the thinking behind it. I would stick with him and he would certainly always be in my squad if not starting eleven?

I’ll answer your question with another question. Kouyate has more ability than Noble, were we a better side with him in and Noble out?

Is Sturaro completely dead as some outlets still commenting on him.
