anyone watch Newcastle v Man United? Shelvey was quality shame we couldn't get him in January.

Iron. Al, if the papers are to be believed, maybe it was because of everybody’s favourite persons remark👎 at an away game, when the question called out to him was “ why don’t we sign Shelvey” apparently the reply was in his usual diplomatic way “because he’s f——-g useless” whether that was his honest opinion or not is anybody’s guess? So what chance did David Moyes have even if he fancied him which we don’t know? I personally think he’s a great player with vision and when I saw us linked with him I thought what a great acquisition to our team, but my opinions only TV based! Couldn’t see Rafa letting him go in January anyway, to good a player!

PS, my concerns now would be, can we hold on to “Arnie” in the Summer, he must be catching the attention of all the big guns at home and abroad in his current form. He looks world class in my opinion😄👍 Having a big stadium does not make you a big club, maybe the potential, but we are hardly as West Ham a big attraction to already established stars, apart from the has been bounty hunters! We need to start winning something to start building a “big club”reputation and being able to keep our quality players! Also hope Moyes hasn’t been sufficiently demoralised in the transfer window to want to walk in the Summer? Not everybody’s choice initially including me, but for who was available at the time, he’s doing a great job for me under very tight opinated constraints with difficult hierarchy!

with Shelvey on his day looks great all action pings the ball about and gets stuck in but obvious he's got temperament issues but I heard west ham are his boy hood club and I think he would have played his best football with us.

according to ironmike rafa would have been happy to let him go providing a replacement was brought in unfortunately Newcastle went through abit of a takeover saga which wasn't put to bed untill towards the end of the window. I think the deal was dead before Sullivan's stupid comments were made.

as for your arnie concerns I agree he's looking world class he's always had great potential but been inconsistent in the past I think moyes is getting the best out of him and hopefully he can become a consistent performer he certainly looks up for it and is showing great passion for the club. I have the same concerns for lanzini too we must keep both if we really want to progress which will not be easy. it all depends on the summer recruitment like you say hardly an attraction to established stars, what we can do however is sign young quality players that are playing regularly that can grow with the club. for example a few of the players we were linked with like dendoncker, Morrison they both look quality even Shelvey is still only 25. we have an aging squad but if the right players are available age shouldn't be problem but we definately need an injection of youth that can play now and develop with us.
