And so another window comes to pass and not a very successful one. I was quite angry last night as the time ticked down and we had done very little, but I suppose now I;ve had time to calm a bit and reflect I come to a few conclusions. Quite clearly the squad now has been depleted and so DGS and Moyes I would hope, will start looking at Free Agents such as NASRI etc and there are a few out there. The biggest issue during these transfer windows, which we all comment over, is the way we do business. For instance, we use a scatter gun approach and identify 5 or 6 players in each position and approach for them all starting with the best we can get in a particular position. In this window it seems to have been dendoncker. We spend days talking about contracts, payments etc and make a bid which is a lot lower than required which is rejected and so we move on to the next target and leave that deal hanging. We do the same again to see which is the best deal we can get and whilst this is going on time is running out. When we get to the bottom of the list (at the death of transfer windows) we go back to the original target, (Denconcker and Carvallho are classic examples) and we offer slightly more but still nowhere near what's being asked and the haggling starts until the window slams shut. They've tried every trick in the book to get a DEAL as cheap as possible to save money. Look at the Arsenals' Liverpool, Man UTD, and now other teams in and around us offer what's asked because there is so much competition for players. In years gone by there was a glut of quality in various positions but now, the big clubs come calling and pay the big money to IMPROVE the squad starting with the first 11. NOT US and this mentality will not change until the board are removed. Someone mentioned that MOYES will be given £100m in SUMMER. REALLY? Wake up, because we will be going for as many bargains as we can find and this will continue as long as we let it. Only we can change things at OUR Club and its about time we did!

Hi Phil,

For what needs to happen with the squad to replace players and strengthen areas of the squad, £100m is really scratching the surface. To get a quality striker we need at least £30m and we really need two. We also need another CB or two, a DM and an AM as a minimum.
With £100m if we want to secure the services of all of those players, we will need to shop in the Championship.
Just my view for what it’s worth.
