Hi All, first post on here but just wondering where these fans thinking we're finishing bottom half are coming from. Best business we've done in years and surely we'll improve on last season. New ground, Payet and injuries and still rallied to 11th last year. We might not break into top 6 but I reckon we'll be close.

Good business so far but we have a lot of ground to make up given the mess of last summer in the transfer market.

Still believe we'll be vulnerable defensively this year, and only Lanzini provides any creativity - can't rely solely on him for every single game!

Also, we have only one decent striker in Chicharito, don't believe we can rely on Carroll or Sakho. So if the squad stays as it is now, I think mid table to bottom half is where we'll end up.

We finally have a very good striker with arnautovic lanzini and Antonio playing behind chicharito I think we will create plenty. They can all offer something different and I'm excited to see them in action. Only problem for me is the depth in quality at the moment and how leaky the defence has looked we can all see it. Another quality cb to sure things up at the back is a must.

Then if we manage to shift Snodgrass and feghouli. We can add some more pace and creativity to the side. Rice could be the man to add some defensive steal to our team looked class in a unfamiliar cdm/ cm role, and his main position is actually cb. Honestly I think we could be in for a great season if slav gets the tactics right and we aren't as unlucky with injuries this year.

Yes at the top of the park we've improved there is no doubt but the defence was horrific last season and it's not improved yet as clearly seen in pre season!

Either he gets new personnel or he dumps playing a back 4 as it didn't work last season and hasn't in pre season!

I know we have bought a couple of good players up front but my prediction for a similar finish to last year is based upon this.
The legs in our back line are one year older and half a yard slower. Any intricate passing side or side with pace up front will tear us to shreds. That's my view for what it's worth. Get two good CB with pace and a bit of youth and I would say we could climb two or three places higher in the league.

Only time will tell Costa. If its new personal, formation changes or possibly both that sorts the defence out personally if we play 2 cbs or 3 I think we need someone to give us a shot of confidence and add quality at the back only problem for me is shifting fonte. Reid and ogbonna always seem to pick up some injurys to. There were some awful mistakes last season and our defence let us down a lot being 2 nil up against Watford then losing 4-2 springs to mind. I know rice is young but high hopes he can become a solid dm this season shielding the defence.
