Medel is a defensive midfielder, so any ideas how Pellegrini is going to set up the team?
Mike, is Pellegrini still aiming to bring in a RB and LB this window?

Medel will just be an extra CM option. Covers full back as well as DM, and allows Rice to step in at CB too if need be.

Not a long term option but adds tenacity.

Maybe, but Pellegrini could be reverting back to his earlier formation 4-2-3-1.two holding midfielders in Rice and Medel. Have Anderson, Nasri/ Lanzini, Yarmalenko/ Snodgrass as attacking midfielders and Arnie up top.
