Someone has to say it
That stadium produces as much atmosphere as a morgue!
Watched it back on sky and all you can see is white seats and hear huddersfield fans.
Im totally ecstatic with the team and slav for producing when it mattered and hope they kick on but this stadium thing is bugging me.

i thought the atmosphere was pretty good tonight compared to a lot of games last year, especially the first half. I still think there's a lot of rose tinted glasses about the atmosphere at upton park, I've been there plenty of times when its been flat and quiet. The team have to do something to get the fans up like they did in the first half and its down to us as fans to create an atmosphere. End of the day we're here, upton parks gone and we have to move on and get on with it.

I didn't say upton park was amazing although away fans and teams always say it was. its just the general feel of the os its just not right and even when they interview every away fan that goes there they say its not the same and its very quiet and so far away from players. I suspect the 50000 waiting list for season tickets may be another porkie to lol.

it'll take time to get used to, it'll never replace upton park, it was typical old school stadium, times change and you have to move with the times or get left behind. in terms of the waiting list, it may very well be less than 50k, not everyone whos on a waiting list will end up takin the oppurtunity. We still have a massive support there, more than most would get in there, something we as a club should be proud of. How many chelsea fans would be in there new 60k stadium if they had a mid table team like ours? no way near as much I suspect.

Us old timers find it hard to move with the times, and when you say get left behind? we have always been mid table and behind and that's not going to change in that stadium, having this stadium will NOT get us into champions league so tell me what does it do that betters us apart from letting more fans watch?
And chelsea wouldn't be in our position because they get pumped full of money to get them to the top before they get their new stadium!

i was at the game last night and the atmosphere is not the stadium. issue its the fans. simple as that.

we started singing 2-0 and we still don't sing did anybody join in. NOPE the stadium is not great but the fans make the atmosphere not the ground.

Yh agreed we will always be around mid table but if you don't move forward and stay the same other clubs will take over and we'll fall by the way side.
I agree hardcore. I thought maybe this year would improve now people have had the chance to relocate so the fans that sing and chant more would be together.

It def is us fans who make the noise and not the stadium but u just have to see with most big stadiums like Utd, Chelsea and even arsenal that there all boring aswell and fans don't bounce all over the place there, I don't care what anyone says this stadium will never be like Upton Park and won't have the same feel and buzz about it, it's bad enough it's not even our own stadium, I do hope it all changes and we make it a fortress and get it lively but I just don't think most of us fans see it as our home yet and not excited about it.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, you have to remember that the only reason we have the kind of spending power to bid for big players is because of the new stadium. Like it or not football is a business and we would not be in the position we are now to bid for top players if we had stayed at Upton Park. I have very fond memories of the place, my dad used to sit me on his shoulders at the back of the old west enclosure, I watched Moore, Hurst, Peters, Sissons, Byrne, and all that came after them, I have reluctantly accepted that the new stadium is a necessity of the modern game but hope one day we will have a proper stadium again.

Spending power?
Our net spend was 4th lowest I think and we bid 15 mil below a players true value!
No good having money from new stadium if its all lining the dildo brothers pockets.

Yea it might make us a more attractive team to want to come and play for and make us better financially but that's no good if you don't spend the money and give is fans false hope, carvhlo would of been prob the biggest signing we have ever done and them two prats let him go because there to tight and now I very much doubt Lisbon will ever do business with us, don't get me wrong it's great that we are financially stable but they promised us top 5 finishes with champions league football and challenging for the title all within 5 years but sorry to say it I don't see that happening under these two especially as they don't like to break the bank on the players we actually need.

I honestly believe they will sell the club within 3 years and we will move stadium within 5.once everyone is fit bilic will have a difficult time picking our first 11 because Monday did look a good set up for us but that means where does lanzini or arnoutovic fit in if it was me I would play kouyate in a back 3 then obiang just in front with lanzini ahead of him and Antonio on right, arnoutovic on left with Carroll and Hernandez up top we could be really dangerous in attack and especially set pieces, let's just hope we can kick on now and get up the table.

I can you tell you from experience UPTON PARK 15-20 years ago was electric and very daunting and fearful for away teams you ask any top pro from these times will tell you that Upton Park would be in the top two or three grounds they wouldn't like to play against especially night games for some reasons and the old chicken run where I use to stand was very daunting some of the things that was shouted was sickening and should never been said but in general the atmosphere was brilliant and truly missed by me.
