The only credible reason is that DGS are trying to cut the wage bill. Is it because they need to, in order to bring in fresh player (s) or are they just being mercenary at the expense of the squad? If it's the latter, we are in for a relegation battle season.
What I don't understand is that we started the transfer window desperately needing to strengthen our strike force, according to DGS. Having done that to an extent, we are now offloading a striker. I hope they are going to spend the money on positions which are crying out for bolstering up. Somehow, I think we are all going to be disappointed come 11pm on Thursday. Hope I'm wrong.

This is utterly ridiculous - we are in very real danger (with a couple of key injuries) of not being able to field an eligible matchday squad without throwing the youth the wolves! Please someone come and buy us off these demented porn merchants.

Are the DGS going to surprise with a late run of incoming players, are they making room by shifting out excess players only to come on the rails in the last furlong with a flurry of big signings

Time to take my medicine and get back to reality!

So down to 1m net spend now should Sacko go! What was it the owners said again about Chelsea looking over their shoulders now as we've joined the big league and will be competing for the best players! Total disgrace what's happening.

Is it conceivable they are asset stripping prior to an imminent takeover? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Ho Boosh, not sure if asset stripping would make the product ( WHUFC) less attractive to buy

I would have thought that selling a successful stable club that needs proper investment to move forward maybe more attractive to a buyer and probably earn DGS a higher sale price rather than buy a club in disarray. I could be wrong.

This takeover thought has crossed my mind as well. The club's worth approx £500M apparently. No one in their right mind is going to pay that, especially with our wage bill and any outstanding debts. However, trim that wage bill down significantly, be prepared to drop down a division and that club value is diminished to a much more inviting level for anyone prepared to take on a London club in the Championship but with an almost instant guarantee of promotion - Plus some nice parachute payments to help offset the temporary loss of PL revenue.

It seems Sully and Gold can't sell West Ham United for £500m in the PL but could possibly sell it for let's say £250M in the championship. Still a nice return on the original £105M outlay - especially considering the sale of Upton Park as well. People will mention the debts of course but I'm certain SuGo are savvy enough to make damn sure they're not liable for them if and when they sell the club and would surely incorporate them in any kind of takeover deal.

This is of course all pure speculation on my part. But then again, I'm a cynical old git.

Not sure about the guarantee of immediate promotion pal.
