I know a lot of people are blaming the defence and I agree we need a new center back pairing, but I feel its our center mid that has been letting us down there is no cover, as much as I like noble and kouyate, we need a 3rd midfeilder who looks after back 4 .

Or if bilic plays 4 -2 -3 -1 we need a world class box to box man . Collins was shocking as much as Reid . But at this moment I don't know why Collins started in front of ogbonna . Really thought this was a game to start our season and really disappointed, after this result leaves me thinking were can we possibly grab points if we can't beat watford at home? New manager I don't know know?

totally agree noble is not good enough we could have bought pererya who ran the show today if he's not better than noble i'm f----ng blind kouyate doesn't knowif to hold or go on a fifty yard run and my grandad would outrun collins if we are going to get to the next level these players have got to be replaced bit of wind would knock noble off the ball. coyi.

Sorry but I think you are being incredibly harsh about Kouyate. He isn't a holding midfielder. He is a box to box player. He has one poor game and suddenly you're saying he isn't good enough? Why?

We didn't look comfortable defensively at all yesterday, Lanzini, Payet and Antonio were all slow to track back. Watford were playing a 3-5-2 formation and our defence and midfield couldn't cope with Watfords extra man when they attacked.

Watford bullied us physically, we were out muscled in every position, Ighalo ripped apart Byram and the mix up between Collins and Adrian for the second goal was an elementary mistake.

Is it the players fault? Well yes they could have done more, but Bilic didn't adjust the formation and the way we played made it easier for Watford.

I like Bilic, but his teams have always had defensive frailties and frankly the fact we sold Tonkins and didn't replace him at all concerns me.

HI fellas, well I think you ALL know my views on the defence and the fact we have done nothing about it, PROBLEM now is WHAT do we do, Bring Ogbonna back of course, play Arbeloa IF he's fit that's it WE have NOBODY ELSE But young OXFORD do you want to play a 17 year old under that much pressure, We must start picking up points quickly, before this turns into a drama. PLAY two banks of four against WBA. Will be boring, but that's not the problem, it might restore confidence Which is the main priority at present, get things back to basics and move on from there, , IRONMIKE.

Absolutely bang on summary and if we can see it slaven must. Byram has hard as he tries isn't ready to face Premier league forwards. I just hope arbeloa can add the balance at right back that we need and I would hope in January they do something about getting a decent right back.

Why not oxford mike when he's played he's just like rio and look what happened with him at 16 man u and city wouldn't offer 18 million for reece for nothing at least have quality like him on the bench. COYI.

Byram has had one bad game it happens, he's looked pretty assured when he's played before, it was poor around from GK and back 4 yesterday

I'd like to see obiang start ìnfront of noble and ogbonna play aswell against wba and play byram no point in destroying he s confidence.

Personally, I believe this could be Oxford's breakthrough season. He's a far better option than Collins in my eyes, and let us not forget how deep inside his pocket Ozil was last season!

Have to agree about Collins, the ginger Pele will always be a legend, but his lack of pace gets shown up way too much in todays game. Yes put him up against a lump and he'll boss the defence, but any mobility up front then he's a liability. Have to agree was surprised to see he started ahead of Ogbonna. On Noble, just hope he can find last years form. again another icon but he really does need to step it up.

i know we got a lot of money for Tomkins but we should have kept him as a RB. we were really solid when he played there. and was also cover for CH should we need it! . I don't understand that move. yes he doesn't bomb forward but the boy could defend and defend well at RB!

He wanted to leave Costa, wanted to be 1st team CB.

End of the day we didn't address and in fact made weaker our frailty from last season by selling Tonks which was . we scored more or less the same as Leicester and Arsenal but we let in 15 more goals! . so plain to see where we needed strengthening first! . and so it seems the same is happening this season. we can clearly score there is no doubt in that however the defensive frailties are there to be seen once again! .

Zero recruitment for me in there area where we desperately needed it!

I said that 2 months ago when we messing about for ages trying to sign Tore, we shouldn't be signing squads at the deterement of the first team we've signed a load of players this summer in attacking positions none really better than what we already had, and done nothing with the defence and even with all these new attacking players we have zero creativity without payet and lanzini in the team.

RED he could have been that at RB i'm saying not CH. strange decision for me!

and RED he's not first team CB at Palace either!

We were all screaming from the end of last season about the RB situation and unless we played Tomkins we didn't look secure at the back and its been an ongoing issue that should have been addressed in the summer and wasn't! SB experimented with Antonio (Who personally I wouldn't mind seeing play as Striker) at RB and that didn't work when he should have been using the end of the season the bed Byram in. Byram has been given his chance but doesn't currently appear to be the solution (and he has had more than one bad game) . He likes to bomb forward but the defensive side of his play needs work. Until then we would do well playing Arbeloa, but, we will still have problems in CB. About time OGBONNA was partnered with Reece Oxford. We could then use Reid at RB if necessary and as soon as Cresswell is back we'd have a much more solid look about us. Stop these Rabonna's! what's that about? Yeah, looks great but it just annoys the opponents and makes them try even harder. We should have ripped WATFORD a NEW a_ _ hole at the weekend, but stoopid, naïve defending and cockeyness up front cost us. Noble looks out of sorts so rest him and play Obiang and Kouyate in front of back four and get Edmilson on as the box to box midfielder. Why buy him and not play him and stick with NOBLE who is under performing. I'm sick of seeing teams stick with players because how long they have served the club. If its not working, change it!

WHICH endorses exactly what I had said Pre Window IT was plainly obvious to many people WHY not SB, BAFFLING .? IRONMIKE.

17.) 12 Sep 2016
12 Sep 2016 11:51:45
I don't get it IRONMIKE? If we can see these problems then SB as the manager MUST be able to, surely. If he can't then he needs to go! Its a shambles that should have, and now Better get sorted or we are going to be in serious trouble this season!
I've had enough of GandS antics with the new ground, transfers and the way they conduct business and am really fed up of watching us struggle when our quite clear problems should be addressed. Watford saw our weakness and targeted the RB and at the right hand side of the back 2 area and wow didn't it pay dividends. if we think its ending there, best think again because teams will have seen how we struggle and it will be targeted in every game we play until its sorted. West Brom away and I don't fancy our chances defending like that! I'll be a very happy man if we can get top 10 at this rate and NO, its not being negative, its REALISTIC.

billic reminds me of keegan at newcastle you score 3 and we score 4 strange being Billic was a class C|B just don't get it when feghouli fit put ogbonna in for ginge arbeloa and i'd drop noble for obiang we got enough flair players we need lefgs in midfied and sorry too upset everybody who loves noble but he's got to go. COYI.

19.) 12 Sep 2016
12 Sep 2016 14:34:23
Agreed, but like Rooney with England, he won't get dropped in the hope that its only temporary!
We have some good players and OBIANG, Kouyate and Edmilson would be a better combination with Kouyate and Obiang holding whilst Edmilson plays box to box allowing Antonio, Lanzini and Payet freedom to play sensible football and cut out the show boating.

20.) 13 Sep 2016
13 Sep 2016 03:27:02
I think the problem was that SB believed he could turn Antonio into a marauding RB and would play any one of a number of players ahead of him. Antonio has told him he doesn't want that and/ or it wasn't working, and now we got desperate for a last minute RB and got someone who is experienced but older and not match fit so he is left playing Byram. The CB issue baffles me.

21.) 13 Sep 2016
13 Sep 2016 08:30:58
I think the problem with CB was that Ginge had a few outstanding games, where you couldn't get past him, and I bet they thought well with him, Reid, Ogbonna and hopefully Oxford breaking through and then Kouyate for emergencies that is more than enough. and I tend to agree. If we signed another CB then I fear we would lose Oxford as he'll never get a run out. It has to be Reid and Ogbonna and start Oxford a lot more, get him playing and turn him into our new Rio. and with the new stadium etc. maybe we can hold onto him unlike the old days where when they got good we'd have to sell them.
